We cook regular bacon in the microwave all the time.  It doesn't have to be a special kind.  We have a little round plate that is made for cooking bacon in the microwave.  It has grooves that hold the bacon up off the plate.  It works great, and tastes just like it was fried in an iron skillet.  It is much faster and you don't get any of those little grease burns from when it pops out on your hand.

I can only have 1 piece of regular bacon.   I can have 4 of the pre-cooked stuff.  

Granny has one of those special plates for bacon, too.  She just figured out the other stuff for me.

No, it was trying to make a grilled cheese that I caught stuff on fire.  Never did with bacon.
