And, bless his heart, he made it quite a ways before he was tackled by a pair of Towson defenders.

Why Parker was tackled remains as much a mystery ...

Yes, they showed this to Lou Holtz (who went to KSU) during half time.  Since the guy couldn't advance the football under college rules, the ball went back to the 7 anyway.

That was hilarious. And the Towson players were chasing him. I'm like, let him run, he's gonna score a safety for you. What a bunch of idgets. HaHaHaHa.

But he didn't advance it.  He retreated it.

Can you imagine?  I can just see him running into the end zone and laying the ball down on the ground after he thought he scored a touchdown.  That would still be a live ball since he is in the wrong end zone.  All they would have to do is fall on it and it would be a touchdown for the other team.

Now that is an excellent thought!!!  Especially if it happened in the Iron Bowl.  I can see the Daniel Moore now:  Run Barner, Run!!!

At least Bo's wrong way was horizontal and not vertical.

I just read that the play didn't count, since by rule a muffed punt cannot be advanced or retreated. Still, they should have let him score just to see the disappointment when he was told it didn't count. And they should change that rule. Let it be retreated, if the kicking team is dumb enough to do so, let them run it as long as they want. Ha.

Here's the most famous example of a wrong way run: A Georgia Tech player in the Rose Bowl.

I read about the Jim Marshal incident in a football book when I was a kid, but I never knew about the Rose Bowl incident.

I watched the game as a kid. I couldn't believe what I had seen. Poor guy took crap all his life for that one play. Most people overlooked what a good player he really was, because of that.
