Lots of love in the polls and power rankings for WVU, a team that has yet to play a ballgame. They play Maryland (2-1) this week. Maryland beat William AND Mary 7-6 so we know they are good.  WVU has scored in bunches but is 60th in "points against". They'll keep Geno Smith in until there is 7 or 8 seconds left in the 4th to pad his numbers, but give up 3 TDs. When they begin to play Big 12 competition (Baylor next week) they'll run into other offenses that will also score 60-70 a game and end up 7-4 on the regular season.

I'm guilty as charged.  I will be quick to remove them when they stumble though.  Ask USC when our poll comes out in a couple of hours.  Laughing

My problem is that there are maybe 10 obviously decent teams, and then a whole bunch of "also rans" that you have to pick from to fill out your ballot.

OK, OK, I admit it, there are about 2 teams worth a vote and the rest are irrelevant.  What's a pollster to do?

Top 2 then "also receiving votes."

Not a bad idea.  The top 2 are the ones that are going to fight for the crystal football.  Who cares about the others?
