So, here is a sampling of who the Aubs think they can hire to replace Chiznik:

Bobby Petrino
Jon Gruden
Jim Mora-UCLA HC (& born in LA)
Chip Kelley-Oregon HC (raised in New Hampshire)
Brian Kelley-Notre Dame HC (born & raised in Massachusetts & Catholic)
Gary Patterson-TCU HC (born & raised in Kansas, played @ K. State)
Pete Carroll-NFL HC
Gus Malzahn
Paul Rhoades-Iowa State HC (Iowa native)

Somehow they forgot to mention Bob Stoops, Nick Saban, Bill Belichick, Bill Cowher, and Vince Lombardi.

Well, any ideas on who they actually end up with?

Out of all those guys I could see Petrino or Malzahn as possibilities.

They might steal another coach from Ole Miss and get Hugh Freeze.

On second thought, I don't think he would take a step down like that.  Laughing

The farmily is probably wishing they had us or LSU next week, someone who is supposed to beat them. Instead they have Vandy, the ream that every SEC team is expected to beat. But Vandy will surely beat them, heaping further indignities high atop the already moutainous pile. If the Chiz doesn't hit the fan this week. Can he possibly survive losing to Vandy after all this?

Wow. I forgot, some of them did mention Hugh Freeze. Don't laugh, when all the big names don't return their phone calls, they will look at him. I think Malzahn will be offered, but I'm not sure he wants to return to that snake pit and the university boss, Pat Dye.

Petrino will take the Bill Clinton defense and tell the fambly that he was only trying to counsel that poor girl...then all will be well, and the barners will say Petrino is the savior they always needed and he is the Chosen One to beat the hated Tide.

I truly believe they are so deluded and are at such a low point that Petrino WILL be the coach.

And Dye will say that he has "counseled" Petrino and he is truly repentant, and will not ride motorcyles with blondes anymore (at least not in Lee Co).

It all be true!

I kinda believe this fiasco with Chiznik is going to cost Pay Dye a ton of credibility. There is NO doubt with me that he is the one responsible for getting Chiznik at Auburn. Plus, Malzahn will not want Dye hanging around the program, if they offer him the job. He will insisist that Dye disappear, sorta like Tuberville did.

Gimmick football seems to be the trend. Now, whether or not the barn is willing to take a leap that crazy far outside the mainstream remains to be seen.  IMO, it will excite a sidewalk fan base, but will fail in the SEC. Of course, these "high fliers" will fail come post-season crunch time, but I'm not sure many ADs are not merely "living in the moment". Dana Holgorsen does not make very much money at WVU.

I agree wit you about Pat Dye. I think Jay Jacobs job is on the line too. All of the barn's major programs are at or the the bottom of the SEC.

About coach they hire worth their salt would not allow Pat Dye to mettle with the football program.

I forgot, Holgorsen was mentioned as a candidate. You're right, his salary is not great, but that beat down by Texas Tech might have ruined his resume for Auburn.

Especially considering who is coaching Texas Tech.  Wink

Agreed guys, why would any coach worth a flip, walk into the festering hornets nest. Any coach would say clean house.

I think they'll end up hiring Petrino.  I doubt many other major conference teams are going to be desperate enough to take a chance on him, and Auburn isn't going to find anyone else worth having who could potentially turn things around quickly.  Whether mama's will let their kids play for Petrino or not will be interesting to see.
