Okay, you magpies, here's something more fun to pick at.  We had to bust out the old wood-stove chimney today.  Here's my buddy with the sledge (insulation obscured his face  Cheesy ).  

We were going to saw away the supports and let it fall, but realized it would go right through the floor.  Even after we busted away the bricks, the base (what's left in this pic) weighed 200 lbs.  We tied it off and lowered it to the floor, then dragged it to the dumpster.  Whew.  :sweating:

edit: The "base" is right at his belly.  The yahoos who built this house used a wood stove.  The base is where the stove pipe met the chimney.  They built the chimney by pouring concrete into a box (the base), then building up bricks to the roof.  The thing was a massive structure, too heavy for the 2X6 supports.  So they tied it to the roof rafters; then both the roof and ceiling sagged.  Cry

Yes.  His pockets are full of silver bullets and he always wears a mask.  It was a hot day.  But the rain and lightning came back tonight.  I feel like I'm back on the island.

I am still lost. The woodstove was tied in (at some point) to the chimney flu? The base is the hearth?
