During a break today we read through some of the trash that fell from the attic.  There were boxes of stuff, mostly bank statements and old newspapers.  The papers were so brittle they fell apart, but there was a 55 Chevy for $500 (1960 paper) and a '57 Ford for $450 (1960 paper).  That was all of the descriptions of each.  The bank statements and cancelled checks were telling.  The largest check one month was for electricity for the house ($50).  BTW, there was no insulation in the walls; attic only.

Interesting stuff- both the old newspapers AND the construction clues as to how they lived. I would hate to think my carpentry skills would be critiqued 70 years from now. My drilling skills, maybe, but I am sure someone will be LOLing at that too.

I know they likely did the best they could, but I also wonder if they cheated someone by poor construction.  Clearly they knew they were creating problems by not insulating the walls.  The bathroom is in the NW corner.  Image going in there on a cold morning.  At least there was a gas space heaters in there.

What's up with you this morning?  I'm going back to the renovations.  I think today we finish wiring the house and start installing ceiling lighting (can lights I heard).
