Thanks pmull. We went to my son's game last night. Mountain Brook killed us 35-0. Mountain Brook has a good team and the kicker that was great.

Last night 2012 Alabama RB Kenyan Drake of Hillgrove (Ga.) HS had 166 yards on 7 carries for 2 TDs.

We finished framing in the back porch.  It'll be a screen porch where I'm standing (far end of the porch) and a washroom on the closer end.  It was a pain to figure how to tie the porch roof into the existing roof, but we managed.  The photo was taken before we put up the rest of the roof rafters.  They're all in pacle now.  Tomorrow we put on the decking for the roof.

There will be a metal roof on top, so the lesser pitch doesn't matter (metal roofs drain much easier than shingles).

I'm going to relax here for a few minutes, maybe get a nap, then go to a party.  You guys?

I looked at all the Region 7 scores to scope the competition. I saw where MB beat ya'll bad. MB is good. There are #7 in the state in the pre-season poll. We played our jamboree game against Spain Park. They beat us 30-17. Spain Park is # 3. Oxford looks good in Region 7. I'm hoping we make the playoffs. We were in a 3 way tie for third last year and lost all tie breakers. Only 4 teams make the playoffs so we stayed home. Hewitt-Trussville, Oxford, Gadsden City, Clay-Caulkville and Austin are all good teams.

It will be a nice porch.  Hard to tell here; it looks narrow.  But it's 12' wide, and it faces the west toward the woods and a gap that opens onto a railroad track.  Fun to sit and watch trains pass by (200' away).  Lots of birds there too; big oak the side where the camera is facing, and lots of others to the west and north.  Should be fun to sit on this porch in the morning and enjoy coffee, facing away from the street and sun.

The house looks pretty long by the looks of the length of the porch.

Hoover is # 2 in the state behind Prattville. Prattville is # 1 in the NATION.

Naw, it's a tiny little house; maybe 1300 sq ft.

Must be the camera angle. Pmull, I had no idea Prattville was ranked #1. I see where this S. Panola team is ranked #16.

I was listening to JOX on my drive to B'ham yesterday. They had a phone interview with the Prattville coach. Prattville's first game is against a South Florida school that is ranked # 3 in the nation. The game will be played in Hoover.

Yellow Pup just started another thread and said "#1 St. Thomas Aquinas over #5 Prattville   34 - 31". I guess there is different rankings. Either way that was a good game between two good teams.

I'll interject here for a minute and talk golf. With me dieting and the temperature reaching 100 degrees, I hit the wall about #12. On the front 9, however, I was literally 2 inches from a hole-in-one on a 185 yard par 3. I shot 43-49 for a 92. The front nine would have been better but I shanked an approach shot OB on #3 and ended up with a 9. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Temps are supposed to be a good bit lower tomorrow.

St. Thomas Aquinas from Ft. Lauderdale is a perennial national top 5 team. I watched them 2 years ago play the Byrnes HS from Duncan, SC with  Marcus Lattimore. STA won it only because Lattimore fumbled twice. Byrnes really outplayed them and it was in Ft. Lauderdale, but those fumbles killed them.
