I'm off to the Friday night auction.  You guys need any worn-out furniture or beany babies?

See what "rescue puppies" are going for.

The auction was a thrill.  I bought some useless items, like this Achievement Medal (1950s) that commemorates sales of $500.  I also bought a 1912 copy of "Alice in Wonderland" and some other silver coins and tokens.

No puppies were auctioned, so the market is not flooded with rescue pups.  Bring them over, put bows on their necks, and they'll sell.
$19.12 seems a little high for a Alice in Wonderland book,-- but you're the expert.

LOL.  This is a fun little small-town auction.  The book was $3, the coins $5, and I spent $12 on other goodies (old tools, a WWII photo, and other goodies that sell at gun shows).  Just fun.
Grocery stores have loss leaders. They price some items on sale to promote/induce activity. That is smart. Place interesting items around your big ticket knives to get a crowd and start a conversation.

Actually, the best buyers at gun shows are the quiet guys.  The talkers kick tires.  And my high-dollar knives are under glass in cases (ever since I had one stolen).  HTH  Here's looking at you kid

I'm going to the Austin vs Hewitt-Trussville football game tonight. Excellant night for a game. It's a big game for us. Four teams in the region make the playoffs. Oxford, Clay-Caulkville and Gadsden are all Top 10 in the state. It looks like us or Hewitt will get the fourth spot. I think we are pretty good and may make a run at those top 3 but a loss tonight would not be good. Wish us luck.

I guess it's not at Hewitt?

Home game for us thank goodness. They cheat worse than the barn when we go to their dumpy little field. We won 25-23. Great game. We kicked a field goal to take the lead with 43 seconds to go. The game had several lead changes. Well worth the $6 to get in. The good news is we are 3-0. The bad news is we have to go to Oxford next week.

two questions for you chech.

a. Better to help grass spread; mow or let grow tall?

b. Best time of year to plant winter rye.

TIA

Mow it, but not too short.  Keep it watered.

Usually winter rye is planted when nights get cool (now).  Most years it's Oct 1 here.  Mow the existing grass first.
I assume you mean to overseed the other grass (Bermuda).  Bare spots can be planted with rye earlier.

Chris Sparkman. He is a Sophomore. We also use a wildcat with Josh Walker.

You have improved over the summer. You were in the 90's a few months ago. Most of your scores lately have been low 80's. Must be all those tips I gave you.  Wink

Applause E-Cred on your 80. Hit 'em straight today and don't miss kickoff.

I gotta e-cred ya. The tips did pay off. Using my other putter hasn't hurt either. Except for the last hole yesterday, I putted really well.

I SB back in plenty of time for kick off.
