Good morning.  Tree planting job this AM. (I just dig the holes)

We've got rain.

I followed the auger discussion.  Most salient part seemed to be RPM speed to reduce scatter; good advice for those who come behind to fill the holes.

edit: great minds.  I was typing while Sar was repeating.

Morning. Remember, low RPMs so you don't sling your dirt all over the place.

I dug about 30 holes yesterday for practice.  I think I got it.

In practice, the slinging of dirt was not so much an issue.  Remember I have a 12" auger.

Low RPM are in important though to keep it straight in the beginning.

So you bought only the 12", not the 9"?

It came with 1 auger.  The 8" is available at the co-op for 80 dollars.  I will get it when I need it.

Which reminds me, one of the properties I did is across the street from the co-op.  He was so pleased with the job (and he got a great price becuase I was slow and he was like Rick from Pawn Stars) that he let us put a sign there.  So now you see it pulling out of the co-op onto the main road.

You need the 12" for the tree holes. I get it. But for post holes the 8 or 9" is what you want, unless you really enjoy tamping.

Not sure what you mean.  It will break down into 4 pieces fairly easily (2 bars, drive shaft, auger).  I have it on the tractor.  To take it off it lays down if you tie the augur up so you don't have to disassemble it.

Here is the exact brand.

My drive-shaft and auger are black, not yellow and red.

I auger into the ground for storage so it is sitting straight up when I need it.
