36 hours is double the hours a typical student takes. I still think there is more to this story. Hopefully he can work with the scout team and be ready to go for the next two years. It may help us and him in the long run.

Ok, I was just turribly disturbed when I opened CRS a moment ago. Sports art ad on left side of screen was promoting barner art. I think a person should be warned before being given a heart attack. I thought for a moment that I had accidentally ended up on ITAT.

About 10 years ago a basketball player ( ___ Jones?) at Miss State took 36 hours in one summer.  The NCAA investigated, and much was made of it.  He was finally cleared, but it took months of investigation, and many people still questioned the decision.

Generally a full load for summer is 3 for interim and 6hrs each session for 15 total (that was how it was at UA anyway).

I have a feeling Duron might've meant 36 spring and summer combined.

Here it is.  Dontae' Jones (Miss State):

Finally, there was freewheeling, fast-talking, ever-smiling, high-leaping junior college transfer Dontae’ Jones at small forward. A high school dropout from Nashville who worked in a Kenny Rogers Roasters restaurant managed by his mother, the 6-7 Jones ended up at Northeast Mississippi Community College where he averaged 27 points and 12.3 rebounds in two seasons. He averaged 28.7 points as a sophomore as the third leading junior college scorer in the nation, then passed 36 hours of summer school credit, including 13 hours of correspondence work, to become eligible at MSU.  Fitting Jones in State’s starting lineup was more of a challenge than Bullard and Walters. Jones started slowly because of a preseason stress fracture, then reverted to his junior college habit of taking any shot when he thought he was open.

Most students have to get their advisors approval to take over 15 hours. 18 hours is a very heavy load.

I took a 21 hr load during a standard semester that I had to have permission for.  Not that fun, especially when you're talking about junior/senior level engineering courses.  I couldn't imagine 36 during the summer, even though most were probably basics.
