Up early working on your picks?  You know, you've set yourself up for a big fail this week.

Call me the next time one of you guys takes apart your chainsaw.  I spent 2 hours last night cleaning the carburetor on my Stihl saw, and learned more than I ever wanted to know about fuel-vent hoses, impulse hoses, and carburetor kits.  But now I'm good to go, finally.  Back at it this afternoon.

I once tried to rebuild an old Holly carburator for my car when I was a teenager.  It did not go so well.  At the time I could not understand how the thing worked since there were very few moving parts.  I did not know about the Bernoulli principal back then and I could not figure out what caused the gasoline to flow into the throat.  I kept looking for some sort of pumping mechanism that would squirt the gas through the jets.

I think the key to such work is not thinking too much.  These days, just follow the web-page description.  Funny, I just read a paper about how the Bernoulli Principle pertains to passive flow through a critter's burrow.  Cool.

Back then I was totally in the dark.  This was before Al Gore invented the internet.

I had a little box of parts and I had to figure out where they went.  It was a universal rebuild kit too, so it had lots of parts that didn't even belong on my model.  It was basically a whole bunch of gaskets and o-rings along with a few other things.

This was a slightly larger carb than the one on my car.  Someone gave it to me because it needed to be rebuilt and they didn't want it anymore.  I was going to try to get it working and swap it out so I could go even faster.  It was a fail.  Looking back now, I see that it was probably a good thing that I couldn't go any faster.

OMG, I remember putting one of those universal kits into my old Buick Special.  You had to trim the gaskets, etc.  No wonder you had problems.  An entire generation of children has been saved by fuel injection.

I have no earthly idea what you are asking.

I spent the afternoon splitting firewood (with a splitter).  I got 3 pickup loads done, and I'm done too.  Weary legs, weary arms, and I've breathed enough exhaust for a lifetime.  That finishes one (1) tree of the 13.  Next?

Cal just took a 1 point lead over Oregon in the 2nd Qtr.  This game could be interesting if it looks like Oregon is going to lose.
