Sometimes I feel bad about having been here two years and not speaking the language.  Then I read something like this and don't feel so bad.  It's weird that I think not knowing the language actually makes living here easier.

When I lived in Ripley, Tn. some 20 years ago, there was a Chinese restaurant in town. The boy who ran the takeout counter, about 20-21 years old, had no concept of sarcasm, but picked up the habit from somebody because every time you would order or say something to him he would go "Yeah, right". It cracked eveybody up & he had no idea what he was saying.

I've had this print (40 X 30") hanging in my office for 20 years.  I never knew the artist until today: James Clarke Hook.  It's called "'Gathering Eggs From The Cliff".  Done in 1858.
