Finished cutting up trees 2 and 3 (of 13).  We'll start splitting the wood on Saturday.  I'm spent.

Tonight there is a "Good Ole Boys" gathering at a nearby farm.  This is an annual outdoor party with bbq chicken and much music, dance, and drink.  LF and I are going.
We'll never hear from Chech again. Sad
Sometimes I have to leave the woman behind a couple of days. Other times they'll accept cash. I think it is just how drunk they are.
Now I'm onto their little game and do not bring much money with me.

"Good morning, everyone."

Four Roses Bourbon?  I've never even noticed it for sale.  But I agree, Faulkner probably drank it because it was available locally and cheap.  He wasn't known as a connoisseur of fine drink, just a drunk who wrote well (and in a style that most find unappealing).

And it's odd our boy didn't drop in long enough to just say goodnight.

I've got a good Faulkner story for you.

A friend of mine was a freshman at Ole Miss in 1962.  On the first day of classes his English professor talked about William Faulkner and mentioned that WF usually walked past the Johnson Commons (Union building back then) every afternoon about 5PM.  So my buddy got a copy of a Faulkner book and sat to await WF, hoping to get an autograph.  He was sitting there waiting for an hour when someone explained to him that Faulkner had died that summer (1962).  "The teacher never told us that part", he said.   Embarrassed

Except for the politicians, it was great.  Lots of good food and good music.  Shhh, Preacher might be listening.  Here's mention of it (below):

** The annual Good Ole Boys cookout in Oxford was yesterday, and as you expect it drew a number of politicians in this election year. Phil Bryant (candidate for Governor), as seen above with Rep. Alan Nunnelee, has posted a number of pictures from the event in a Facebook album here.

I avoid them.  If one spots LF and tries to shake her hand, she knows to raise her cell phone and start chatting to it.

Very clever. I usually leave functions like that when their hands get too close to my wallet. How's your back this morning?
