Off to the Friday auction.

1.  CBBAMA, hope the little guy is well by tomorrow.  A big win over UT should help.  Sick children is scary.

2.  WV, that pistol of Ghadafi's is likely one of dozens he has.  I read that he also has a gold Colt 45 (the Army 1911 Colt pattern).  He may have bought numerous ones of each model that appealed to him.  Money; he had billions.

I'll check in after the auction.

I posted a pic of the Smith 9mm. Spitting image except for a few little differences, one being the barrel length. Good eye. I was just making the part up about the spray paint--Luego!

This is the white elephant (or treasure) of the night.  The one I bought at the auction was like this, but the figurine had much less clothing.  Brass, Ansonia figural clock.

All of the men were laughing as the auctioneer looked at it; women were covering the kid's faces.  I think they were all Baptists; bought it for $5.  I'm thinking I'll donate it to a fraternity.  LOL.

So educate me- no game tickets.  There is an OUTSIDE chance it'll (the one you bought) appraise for real money? $100, $200, $1000?

I'm thinking about $100; probably sell it at the gun show next weekend for $60-70.  LF just raised her eyebrows and said, "It's pretty".

Let's remain "at auction" for a minute. You supply any info (sculptor, author, artist, age, materials) you may have, or do they have assessors looking over every item? How is the beginning bid price set? House auction vs. open auction? What rules? Wait until tomorrow if you'd like. I'm falling asleep on my keyboard/

Streaker at the UCLA - Arizona Wildcats game faces up to 1 1/2 years in jail
by Anthony Gimino on Oct. 21, 2011, under Arizona football

U of A v.s. UCLA Streaker 2011 ENTIRE VIDEO (ORIGINAL)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g325BVLWm8U" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g325BVLWm8U</a>

The streaker at the Arizona Wildcats football game who initially ran onto the field dressed as a game official has been charged with criminal impersonation, according to court records.

Jace M. Lankow, who is listed as an undergraduate in UA’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, was tackled by security on the field after he had stripped down to his underwear. He was led off the field in handcuffs and charged with a class 6 felony, which means he’s facing a maximum of a year and a half in jail if he has no previous felony convictions.

Lankow, who was born in October 1988, according to court records, ran onto the field with four seconds left in the first half, blowing a whistle and waving his arms as UCLA had the ball at its 43-yard line.

"Good morning."

WV, the Friday night auctions are small-time local events.  The auctioneer is licensed by the state; he sets the base price, and his wife keeps the books.  It's an open auction with ascending bids.  Sometimes the item has a reserve, which is sometimes revealed before the bids, sometimes not.  Commonly, as with this lovely swing clock (eyeroll), he starts the bidding higher than anyone is willing to bid, then he lowers the starting level until someone agrees to bid.  He started at $20 with the clock, then lowered to $10, then I raised 5 fingers and he took that "$5 bid" as a start.  Nobody else bid, so I got it.  There was no reserve.

Local people bring in items to auction, and the house gets 20%.  I took some old cigar boxes and an old military bugle.  Often the seller refuses sale if the bid is too low, even if he didn't announce a reserve.  It's pretty informal.
