Off to repair a house.  Luego.

I'm not sure if this is the Habitat For Humanity house or your friend's remodeling project, but in any case it is very commendable of you to give up your weekend to help someone else.

Athearn HO Scale 1963 General Electric 5000 HP Twin Engine Diesel Electric

U50 Union Pacific Locomotive

Athearn Trains HO scale U50 diesel locomotive
Read this review from Model Railroader
by Dana Kawala, senior editor // Published: November 16, 2011

Union Pacific RR is a pioneer in the use of high-horsepower diesel-electric locomotives, such as the General Electric U50 accurately modeled in HO scale by Athearn Trains. The direct-current model has a smooth-running mechanism that’s designed for the easy installation of a Digital Command Control (DCC) sound decoder and speakers.

The prototype. General Electric delivered 23 5,000-hp U50 diesel electric locomotives to the Union Pacific from 1963 to 1965. The locomotives were meant to serve UP’s requirement for a diesel-electric replacement for its gas-turbine-electric fleet. The Southern Pacific also purchased three U50 locomotives. General Electric reused the four-axle trucks on span bolsters from the UP’s 4,500 hp “Veranda” gas-turbines for the U50s.

The U50 was essentially two U25Bs put together. The locomotive had two FDL-16 2,500-hp 16-cylinder diesel engines. The front engine generated power for the two front trucks, and the rear engine powered the two rear trucks. Because of reliability issues, the UP retired all of its U50s by 1977.

Between 1969 and 1971, the UP purchased 40 U50C locomotives. Among other modifications, the U50Cs rode on six-axle trucks from retired 8,500 hp gas turbines. These locomotives were retired by 1978.

Now the railroads have modern GE C44-9  and AC4400. EMD SD70ACe and SD70MAC.

I thought I would be first to post an HO scale model locomotive review.
Never know what you are gonna read on the daily thread.

Okay, finally home.  LF is fixing supper.

SC, this is the house of my buddy.  Remember the pics of us ripping down the ceiling, putting up new ceiling, building a deck, etc.  That house.  Thanks.

But we had chores at his farm to get done first: haul firewood and feed the horses.  The firewood took an hour.

Normally feeding the horses is easy, just grabbing up a round bail of hay with the tractor and hauling it to the horse pasture.  But (to simplify for brevity) the tractor was being backed up a steep incline, so I climbed onto the rear hay spike to give my buddy enough traction.  The tractor bucked, I fell, and my leg caught between some iron supports.  I hit the ground, but my leg twisted and was caught.  It hurt mucho (shhh, hell of a lot), but didn't break.  I'm good (enough).

We didn't do the planned work on ladders at the house; instead we did some menial stuff, then sat at the firepacle and had a few beers.

Tom Brady and his offensive coordinator got into a heated shouting match today after the QB threw a bad interception ... and the cameras caught it all.

What do you think about it?

Mostly stretched ligaments and very sore calf muscle.  It's iced.  I'm just glad nothing broke.  I was hanging by my leg awkwardly.  Stupid Goofy, I know.

When I do stupid stuff things that aren't very smart, I usually regret it. Hanging upside down with said leg in compromising position makes me wince. We aren't young bucks anymore, buddy. Careful!  Undecided
