Christmas bonus arrived this week. I consult, so no one had to do anything. Waaay better to receive than give. HTH

E-charge the Paul Bunyon top me! This is an email I just sent- slightly edited:

2 or 3 weeks ago I was going over our (the company I consult for in Houston) list of directional drillers with an accountant. Tis the season and Christmas bonuses needed mailing. Anyway, there was a name on the list I did not recognize. Turns out this guy has been on the payroll, through a payroll service, since last January. Base salary only (our guys make $ by # of days on rig) since he has never done ANY work, so maybe $40K including car allowance and insurance. All his paperwork was done, so a secretary had to have given him a contract, confidentiality agreement, insurance paperwork, etc.. He almost got a $6,500 Christmas bonus. A couple managers kind of remember interviewing him and one had heard he actually does pretty good work. No one remembers hiring him.  The president of the company says he remembers bumping into him in the hallway and welcoming him to the company. LOL

2. I saw this on Seinfeld.  "George" was the employee.

I have a oil field friend in Oklahoma that quit and went to work for another company. HE is still getting his base salary from the first employer (maybe 6-9 mos worth so far). I can't believe I know 2 of these stories and then George, that makes 3.

Here is something to try. Goodies or BC powders for back pain, headaches, etc.. They work almost instantaineously. Bonus feature is they have about 60 GMs of caffeine (I do 2). I use them sometimes just to snap to if I've dozed off, or a booster shot in the afternoon.

It's probably not all that rare.  Imagine the scenario; you want to hide a relative on the books, so you just get sloppy with the employee list and allow checks to flow freely. 

Alternately, imagine a sweet, full-chested girl who goes to work for the big-company blowhard.  She can't work the coffee machine, her keys are lost again, and if the paychecks are on time it's not her doing.

Thanks.  Never tried them, but if they contain aspirin they'll eat up my tummy.  Ibuprofen ain't my friend anymore.  Today it's ice.
