This is so tragic and sad. The guy has finally been apprehended, but it looks like he stabbed an officer in the sally port of the Mobile municipal jail, stole the police car and shot 2 officers during pursuit. Apparently the officer that was stabbed is the one who died. WKRG had videoed the perp. as he was being arrested before all this went down and he was handcuffed in the front and was wearing a long necklace with a large sharp cornered looking medallion. Not sure why the officers would let that remain on him, but it may have cost that officer his life. This totally breaks my heart.

the officer that was killed was 36 years old and had been on the force two years
he was a husband and a father ...
the officer that was shot was grazed on the arm and has been released from the hospital
the perp as 2 said is dead

bad situation all the way around , from the officers that trained the dead officer to
the officers family ... a lot of hurting people right now

your exactly right 2 , appears to have been a fatal mistake
I was told the necklace medallion had five blades on it
