Afternoon Doc and all.

Doing well, especially after hearing from my insurance company.  My wind-damaged roof was completely covered by insurance.  Yippee.

Now I just have to deal with the crazy roofers.

Make sure they clean up all the roofing nails. I had a flat tire a week driving through P'cola after Ivan and they are no fun to step on.

I've already talked with them about it.  The roofer ("Junior") proudly told me he has a big magnet on a stick to pick them up.  Hope they do.

Well, if you've got a roofer named junior, you should be ok.  Cheesy

I had hail damage a few years ago and got a new roof. Make sure your roofer includes all clean and a magnet for the nails. I don't know about a magnet on a stick but all the roofer's I saw in my neiborhood used a magnet roller. It worked good. I still found nails in the shrubs for two years. It took them 1 1/2 day to replace my roof. It took them another day to clean up cigarettes butts to my satisfaction.

Chech, I recommend GAF Timberline 30 year shingles. When picking your roofer make sure you get to choose the shingles of your choice. I also suggest ridge vents in lieu of turbines.

The roofers made a bloody fortune doing business here after the hurricane. Few, if any of them, performed any real cleanup after a job, so they could move right on to the next. The tire repair business was just as good here as the roofing business.

Electromagmetic pulse alert. This may make you forget about the nails in your driveway:

The magnetic part of the storm has the potential to trip electrical power grids. Kunches said power companies around the Earth have been alerted for possible outages.

They can certainly pack a punch.
