Forgot to mention new Olympic records for our yard:

My weedeater (Stihl) actually started right up, the line fed out when needed, and I completed the job in 25 minutes.  That's a local record for all 3 events!

Wow! HOF stuff right there, Chech!  Shocked I hate weedeating. All that good stuff never happens when I do it.

Bump from the last page for those who missed it.

Well, my appointment postponed our meeting until next week, so I'm not going anywhere. I ran across this story as I was searching through the interwebs. A notable game in Alabama'a storied history, even though we lost it. Check out some of the names. Talk about a blast from the past.

You linked a loss to RICE?  Cool pics, though.  Okay, thanks.

Bart Starr (#10) making the tackle.  I think I know why we lost!

WOW...Congratulations on what could be a world record Chech...my luck is never that good either 2...I'm usually too dang worn out from getting mine to crank to use it when if finally does...

Good find on the story 2...the colorful writing style made for an entertaining read...Bart Starr was also a defensive back!  I never knew that but I suppose I should have since everyone had to play both ways back then.

What I really found interesting and never knew about this game, was that it looks like the momentum slipped away when Bama was driving and Bart Starr fumbled at the Rice 10 yard line. Chech, you're right, it's hard to imagine Bart Starr as a defensive player. Another name mentioned in the game was Bill Oliver. For some reason, I thought he played later at Bama.

Right: "Oliver attended the University of Alabama, where he played for Bear Bryant from 1959 to 1961 as a defensive back."

Thanks. Must have been a different Bill Oliver.

You never know.  There are stories from back then about players spending 7-8 years at a school.  Forrest Gump played for 6 years, right?

Lol! Is that why people call us Gumps? Of course there's Bluto from "animal House":
"da#@! 7 years of college, right down the drain."

The Friday Night Auction was fun.  I bought a nail gun and some other tools.  No militaria tonight.

Ah, the real South!

"Good morning."

Hopefully today will be a less topsy-turvy day in college football than yesterday.  Alabama has a closed scrimmage this morning, which should clarify the names of the expected starters (IF CNS releases the information!).

64 degrees here now.  Wow.
