I think because Vinnie finished with the push from his arms, the refs let it go. You're right, though J, they are all going to be judgement calls and outcomes of games can be decided on these.

Oh, and good morning.

Just wait.  There will be at least one high profile game this year that will be decided because a key player loses his helmet and has to sit out a play.  I can easily see the defense ripping the helmet off the star QB in the middle of a game winning drive to put him on the bench for a critical play.  If the ref turns around and sees the helmet on the ground, but doesn't see how it got there, the QB has to sit.  Auburn is already trying this strategy it seems.

I agree with the intent of the rule, that helmets come off way too much.  In the recent past, some players didn't even bother to tighten their chin strap.  But this rule has a lot of negative unintended consequences and should be reworked.

I could watch this play all day.

Vinnie will have his footprints in cement outside of Denny Chimes before he leaves the Capstone.  Write it down.

No doubt. Wink

Right now a penalty is not reviewable, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this change due to players purposely pulling anothers helmet off.

I say a player shouldn't have to go out unless, of course, he really does lose his helmet.

Well I think rules were made so the Ref's could break them. I saw what seemed to be a lot of helmets coming off in the first week. I would think that the equipment guy would have to make sure the helmets stay on. JMHO. RTR!

Two things wrong with this rule:
1.  It punishes the person who was abused (reference Aubs pulling off Clemson QB's helmet);
2.  It may result in helmets being so tightly attached that they don't come off when a violent blow or a grab-and-twist is given.  Not good if a head is still inside a helmet on the ground.

Alabama has been in the AP poll for 67 weeks. That is the longest active streak. Presumably, we've had the longest active streak for some time. Prior to this week, Boise had the second longest at 62 weeks - but they are done. Second longest now? LSU at 50.

Whats up, guys! Greetings from the Old Line State. We arrived in Maryland Monday afternoon after a LONG trip up. We are in the process of getting our place settled, but things are rolling along OK. I have to make this a little short as our internet is not up and running at the new Casa de cbbama, so I am borrowing a laptop and sitting in a Starbucks near our place. Enjoyed watching the Tide put a great butt-whoopin' on the Wolvies. Anyway, as soon as I get our Internet up, I'll be back on regularly again. Just wanted to drop a quick line to let y'all know we are copacetic. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
