I've got to shell peas this morning, another purple thumb.

Ever used a pea sheller?  They work pretty good. A lot less trouble and no purple sore thumbs. A lot faster too.

I bought one once and tried it but there was a lot of waste with them, they mash up the peas.

You need a better pea sheller. The ones at the farmers market work great.

When I was a kid we would drive to Springville to my Dad's cousin farm to pick peas. The rest of the weekend was spent shelling peas. I still remember the first time I saw a pea sheller, maybe late 60's. I have not shelled a pea since and don't plan to.

I'm about ready to leave for Tallahassee to get some fluid drained from my lungs this morning...hopefully this will relieve some of the pain I've been feeling and help me to breathe a little easier.  There is a slight risk that I will suffer a collapsed lung and have to stay a day or two until it re-inflates but I'm counting on that not happening and being back home by lunch to eat some good leftover peas and okra.  Please remember me and Mrs Leroy in your morning prayers.

I'm about ready to leave for Tallahassee to get some fluid drained from my lungs this morning...hopefully this will relieve some of the pain I've been feeling and help me to breathe a little easier.  There is a slight risk that I will suffer a collapsed lung and have to stay a day or two until it re-inflates but I'm counting on that not happening and being back home by lunch to eat some good leftover peas and okra.  Please remember me and Mrs Leroy in your morning prayers.

J, we did have rain again yesterday.  Just a brief, heavy downpour, but it came while I was trying to mow the front yard.  I got 4 circuits before it hit, then sped into the garage.  I finished while it was wet yesterday afternoon - ugh.

LF and I are going to a HUGE farmer's market in Arkansas on Saturday.  I'll watch for a sheller.
