It's really been a true winter all over the country. My oldest daughter, who is a traveling nurse, is currently in Miami, and she was telling me how everyone was bundled up like it was Minnesota when the low got down to 46 the other night. We laugh, but that actually broke the record.

BTW, CB, her next assignment is in your neck of the woods. She reports February 17.

She has my sympathies. 

Seriously though, 2, if she needs some help or anything while she is up this way, feel free to contact me.

I was never man enough to drink the cajun coffee but those cajuns love it.

We will have venison sausage this year, I took care of that this weekend.

From what the weatherman is saying, January has more cold weather in store for us so bundle up and stay warm.

Congrats on the deer, J!  I can almost taste that sausage. 

Will be leaving the cold weather behind for several days come Wednesday. Heading to Miami for a little break. We had originally planned to leave sooner, but real life got in the way. Anyway, looking forward to it.

Morning all. 

I like the cajun coffee.  I opened a bag of Peet's Aged Sumatra this morning.  It was good, but a little too earthy for me.  I did find it humorous that I was drinking an Indonesian coffee that I purchased in the U.S. and brought back to Indonesia.

Power went out this afternoon so I decided to walk to a nearby mall to get some work done.  On the way I fell into a hole in the sidewalk.  I have no idea what happened, or how I escaped without injury.  That one could have been bad.  I'm sure the passersby got a good laugh at the bule (foreigner) falling into a hole. 

Hope your day goes a little better.

I was looking right at the hole and have walked around it numerous times before.  I think my foot slipped as it's the rainy season and everything is wet and muddy.

Also, don't know if this GIF is the same incident, but about a year ago a woman in Beijing was walking on the sidewalk and suddenly dropped into boiling water below and died.  Third world/developing countries be scary sometimes.

Naw, the one above was in China too (as I recall), and the girl was rescued unharmed.

A teenage girl in China learned the hard way that walking and talking on a cell phone can be hazardous to your health — after falling into a sinkhole.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance video in the city of Xian, shows the teen chatting away as she walks down the sidewalk.

The girl fails to notice a pair of safety cones, which were placed in an area where water had eroded the ground underneath the pavement.

Just as the teen reaches the far right side of the video, she can be seen breaking through the weakened cement and falling into the hole.

The girl fell some 20 feet, according to London’s Telegraph.

Luckily a passing cab driver saw the girl fall, stopped and climbed into the sinkhole to help her.

"I called out to her but she didn't respond," cabbie Wang Wei told the Telegraph. “After I shook her a little, she came to. The dirt kept showering down on us and the kid couldn't stop crying."

Firefighters eventually arrived and were able to pull both of them out...
