Thanks for pointing this out, Chech. Gun control is impossible as seen in these photos:

I knew about the OU and Purdue shootings, but not the others. Thanks for the reminder, Chech.  Pray

Wow! I've been removed from the real world since I started vacation. Was not aware of any of this. Prayers out to everyone affected.  Pray

We are slowly making our way back to P'cola. Have stopped to spend the night in Gainesville and this is the first internet service, outside of my phone, that I've had since Wednesday.

It's really good to be back in the US of A. Miami is a country of it's own. We are very much the minority there, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish I had a video of the interaction between a convenience store clerk, who spoke absolutely no English, and myself, when I tried to buy a bag of ice. When I asked for it, he had that deer in the headlights look. I knew then, that he spoke no English. Picture me with my hand out like I'm holding a cup, pretending that I'm dropping ice into it and then grabbing myself, shivering like I was cold. You could see the light go off in his head "Aaaah, hielo!" he exclaimed and got out a bag of ice from the box behind the counter. Pure gold!

One other thing, if you ever drive in Miami, make sure you have plenty of good insurance. There are a multitude of suicidal drivers there. Oh, and the most important word to know in Spanish, ever: Banos? (bathrooms?)

Let me run the few pics that I took through Photobucket and I'll post them.

glad you made it back safe 2

did you bring the American Flag with you ?

and you're right about the drivers there ...
I used to live there and a friend car got hit by one of them

the guy gets out of the totaled out car as was my friends car
and starts the "no speak a English" routine

my friend had enough so he grabs a piece of rubber hose from his car trunk
commences to hit the "no English" guy with the hose

I think my friend exact words were ....
"after I whooped his azz with that hose he could speak better English than I could"

Laughing When I was with the Sheriff's Dept. in Tennessee, we used to go through the same thing when we were booking drunk, unruly Mexicans. Once they realized they weren't getting out of jail until they provided the info we needed, they miraculously spoke perfect English.

Port of Miami. Cruise ships lined up as far as the eye could see.

Marlins Park. My daughter was driving, and like the locals, I might add, so I was lucky to get the pic at all. That is the front part with the retractable roof. A magnificent stadium for a pathetic baseball team.

Very lovely hostess from a South Beach restaurant.

Sorry, no beach pics. Mrs, 2 and daughter spent way too much time shopping for us to make it to the beach.  Sad

Considering you failed the beach assignment, you did well at the mall.
Good comeback, 2.

Safe travels.
