From what I seen on the news on FOX6 B'ham on 280 and I-65 there are so many wrecks and people are just leaving cars and walking away. That has to be horrible. We got 3 1/4" here in Cleburne County at Fruithurst. RTR!

Yes 2Stater it was snow. I don't see us having ice till maybe tomorrow. RTR!

I hope everyone is safe and warm this morning, what a crazy day yesterday was. It was amazing how fast the roadways started to freeze over and the wrecks started immediatly. Some of these drivers think if they have 4 wheel drive then they can go anywhere at any speed with no problem, wrong. I hope their mentality is better this morning as the work day starts. As I watched the weather forecast early yesterday morning I had a feeling that this storm wasn't going to happen as it was predicted and it didn't. There was a period of time yesterday when the ambulance services just shut down because they were unable to get to where they were needed because the traffic just stopped. This situation improved about 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon though.

Drive safe and dress warm this morning, it's still a very high risk situation outside.

I heard it was bad in Tuscaloosa, Jamos.  Prayers that everybody is home safely (and stays there today).

It becomes very dangerous when temparatures reach that level and not just the freezing effect. The risk of cardiac arrest increases tremendously if a person has to be outside working or doing things (pushing cars that have slid off the road) in this kind of weather and southerners aren't familiar with this. I hope the sun comes out early to help the roadways.

Good frigid morning to everyone. We had freezing rain most all afternoon and night, topped off by some sleet. We are at 23 degrees and will barely break freezing today. J, you are right, Southerners aren't used to this especially in this area where snow and ice almost never happens. Here is a pic of my back deck.





3 Mile Bridge completely iced over.


Obviously, Pensacola is shut down.

J, you are right, Southerners aren't used to this especially in this area where snow and ice almost never happens. Here is a pic of my back deck.

It will take the bridge a while to thaw. The sun has peeked out here and that is a blessing, hopefully by noon the roadways have melted.

According to our weather forecast, we will see very little sun today with only a short window for any melting, none of it significant. We will be down and out until tomorrow when we get into the high 40's.

2, from the pic you posted , we got it way worse here
went out about 6am to start my truck and the doors were froze
tried to open the drivers door anyway and the dang handle broke off
in my hand

I just went back inside the house and took a nap
