Yeah, looks like we skipped spring. Well, at least the cold is gone. The pool officially opened for business yesterday and my grandson took full advantage of it. The water temp is still a little cool to me, but he loved it.

Did the pool water have any affect on your yard after the big rain, you were concerned it might have killed your grass?

Looks like minimal damage from the salt, however, there are some washed out places in the yard, either from all the rain or the pool overflow. Probably both.

I assume you have St. Augustine grass.  No way a pool overflow would hurt it.  Pool salinity is minimal, plus it was diluted by the rain.  St. Augustine will grow at resorts right on the beach.  Low-salt flooding shouldn't hurt it.  JMHO

Yes, it is St. Augustine grass and that makes me feel better. That's kind of what I thought, about the diluting. The pool by itself will kill grass. When we first had the pool installed, the strip of grass between the back side of the pool and the privacy fence was dying. It dawned on me that when I skimmed the pool, I was letting pool water fall to the ground as I was dumping the leaves over the fence (onto a wooded area). Once I started letting the water drain back into the pool before dumping the leaves, the grass came back.

Evaporation is usually the culprit.  The salty water itself isn't concentrated enough to hurt, but it concentrates from evaporation and accumulates in the soil surface as brine.

I think I'll put some in a spray bottle. It's as good as "Roundup" and much cheaper.

Afternoon gents. One more group project to turn in by Thursday, and I can wrap up this semester .... just in time to start the summer term on the 19th.  Banging your head against the wall.

Happy Wednesday everybody. Chech, I hope things are better for you today. We're getting closer to the weekend, so it can't be all bad.

Morning everyone. Coffee  Coffee

Yes, it's camel day and it has been a busy one for me so far. I'm trying to put together another high school class reunion fore June 14th and it's not as easy as it once was. It's very hard to find restaurants that will let you make reservations anymore, it's now first come first serve and that isn't possible for a large group of people.

Have a great day everyone. Cheesy
