Warning: may sound like farmer's daughter joke.

I'm so disappointed in you boys.

After I posted that I realized I left myself open to MAJOR horseplay of FIFY posts.

Ok, technical difficulties, I already typed all of this once...

Here it is T'd in, close up and far away.  I did terrible job with photos today.

Ok, this is much later but you can see it filled in now.  Back in the distance you can see a ditch where I tied in the roof drain.

After this photo I started tearing down the wall more and piling the dirt up and trying to box it out with mixed results.

After this next round of storms the mess back there could be absurd.  Stay tuned.

In other words, Italian is off the menu?  Wink

Smitty, catch me up on this design.  Is the "stand pipe" the only part of the French Drain that works, or is that part of the system (the upright part) there because it's where the water ponds up?  In other words, does the horizontal French Drain function?

BTW, I'm looking at the radar.  There is an entire night of rain heading your way, Smitty.  It's still here now, and extends all the way across Arkansas.

yes it catches the spring that comes up from about 2' down behind the hill.  You really have to have seen the before the ditch to see how bad it was.  The whole thing is a clay swale that fills up.   The issue today is all surface.

The idea hopefully will be to build it up a little bit, and leave the gravel spot low, and then do something more attractive with it later.  We'll see.

yes, but this backyard is a major issue and always has been, so it's more of a learning experience.

If I had it to start over, all the back before the ditch, I would go the other way around.  next to the driveway, but alas...

Do you have a rain gauge?  That looks like you had an inch or more today.  Lots of mud.  Tongue

It'd help me picture it if you'd draw us a top-down schematic (aerial view) of your property (at least the driveway, house, and drains).  Not necessarily tonight, but some time.  Use your new Paint skills.
