Here ya go, WV.  That's my arm among the sugar snaps, May 10 last year.  The plants were already 8' high; step ladder.

Maybe I'll be there for veggies July 4th.
Maybe a few cucumbers by that time.

Goliath tomatoes is a quick growing tomato that is worth eating. I may get a few by the 4th of July. I always plant a couple of plants to get an early harvest. Did y'all not bother to read my posts  Shocked  in the garden thread downstairs? All kinds of tips on soil amendment and vegetable gardening.

These are great for the front of the daylily bed or along a walkway.  They only get about 2' high.  Nice.  I have a couple of clumps in my front bed.  Other things about these (that you said; reiterate) is they bloom all summer.  That's unusual for daylilies.

I had the XM radio on while driving to the store a minute ago.  College football talk centered on Penn State.  Blowhard says, "This year the tables are turned.  Alabama has to come to PSU and play in front of 100,000 crazies.  And Alabama will have to play a freshman QB."

This guy know something we don't?  Maybe Sims is the choice.  Grin  He went on to say, "No way will Alabama dominate like they did last year."

Wanna bet?  Bama by 17+

I get about a month out of Rudbeckia. Also good for dividing once the clumps get large.

Didn't know that.  Our beds are full, so I'm not shopping for more daylilies.  I keep separating them and sharing with friends.  Lots of ours came from Virginia, at that famous pacle in Staunton (near there along I-81), forgot the name.  Beautiful varieties.

I've actually stayed there, back in the 1970s (before it was widely known as a bomb shelter).  Very nice.

And I used to travel all over that region of WV climbing through caves.  I even wrote some magazine articles about them and had pics published.  I love that area, especially around Seneca Rocks.  Used to stay in a cabin near there.  But I've hardly been back in 30 years.  Last stay was at Cheat Mountain Lodge.  Beautiful.

You're lucky to live in such a beautiful area.

Gotta go help a buddy build his deck.  I'll try for pics while there.  Later.

This is close to where a navy helicopter crashed last winter(2010). 4 feet of snow. The navy lowered a medic in by helicopter, but after that, they basically turned the rescue over to our guys. They went in on SnoCats and Sno-Mos as far as they could, then reached the site with snow shoes. Then the Navy took all the credit and credited us with an assist.  Lips Sealed
