It's going to crush a lot of dogwoods when it falls

NO ! NOT THE DOGWOODS !
I'm still sick about mine that Katrina blew slap off my property  Cry

and that come-along trick didn't work so good on my big  prize evergreen tree
all I wanted to do is pull it back south a little after Ivan , just to straighten it up some
11 months later Katrina came and blew it the same amount of lean but to the south
so instead of pointing toward Grand Bay it is pointed towards Dauphin Island  now
it is still growing great just southbound and down ...

Orion's sword points toward DI too, so it's not all bad.

Evergreens and hurricanes don't mix.  We had a big spruce tree in our yard in Mobile when I was a kid.  Most houses had one.  The developer must have gotten them on a sale.  About 10years later we all marveled at how fast they grew.  By 20 years most had died.  Last time I visited they were all gone but one big one.  It lasted 50 years.

Probably a fungus (blight).  They got dark regions, then eventually died.  But we were kids, and only sad that they died.  BUT they were spruce trees; hardly suited for Mobile.

I can picture a 12 year old chechem explaining the issue to the other neighborhood kids.

LOL.  That was a crazy bunch of kids in that neighborhood.  We all got flyrods and learned to catch bream and bass with them at the nearby Municipal Park lakes.  One day we discovered by accident that bullfrogs would eat the big bass bugs we used on flyrods.  That began our bullfrog-sales period.  I was a 12-year-old bullfrog merchant.

Applause E-Cred for you both.  I've GOT to sleep.  I was up at 3:10 this morning.  Hope I can sleep until at least 5:00.  Wish me luck and dreams of bullfrog sales.

the evergreen and the dogwoods are my favorites ...
we lost all most all of our good trees in those two canes
big oaks , a big pine that I was glad a little about it being gone

I think (hope) we have decided to move further inland  (wife at 75% approval )
found a place north of here off Dawes Road and south of Cottage Hill
I'll still be somewhat close to the water (salt) and there are a couple of
big lakes (freshwater) near the pacle , so if I have a fishing seizure it's a block to the water .

I've just had it with these canes and don't want to be so vulnerable anymore
we've been pretty lucky the last few years so I figure its a matter of time until we
take one up the shoot again ...

hate to move but with all things considered ... I think we need to .
especially after seeing all this damage the last few days

You should get a fruit basket from your insurance agent if you move.
