I miss my daughter and SIL living in Louisiana. I miss the Mardi Gras events......oh, and the food!  Tongue

I had my fill of it.  As a child it was exciting.  But over the years it became a gathering of drunks and fruitcakes, with enough criminals mixed in to be dangerous.  My last Mardi Gras in New Orleans was about 1981.

It won't be missed.   Stop

Try Mobile's Mardi Gras, the nation's oldest. I used to watch the parades there. Not terribly impressive but enjoyable.

I was born there, and lived there through high school.  During the 1970s I served on Sheriff's backup for the riot squad.

Mobile was nice during the 1950s, fun during the Cracker Jack years, but faded when they repacled Cracker Jacks with Moon Pies.

Good morning folks.  The rain has mostly stopped here.  Supposed to be pretty decent today.

I don't care much for the Mardi Gras either.  Though, this past Saturday we went to the Mardi Gras parade in Huntsville.  I was watching something toward my left when all of a sudden someone was putting a string of beads over my head.  I looked down and it was a really hot little blonde.  It was a girl that works with me... It was just her way of saying hi I suppose...  Grin

It is wonderful to wake up to the serving the Lord today. I do pray you all have a blessed day and safe also. We will be heading out to Montgomery this morning about 11 or so. I felt like I was trying to take the flu yesterday but the Lord has pulled me through it. RTR!

I lived there in the 60's and 70's. Both kids were born and educated there. I spent much time eating great food at Wintzell's and reading their walls. Can't say I was upset by the rise of Moon Pies, but Cracker Jacks beat them by a mile.

There is now a Wintzell's in Guntersville.  There used to be one in Huntsville but it didn't make it.  I ate at the one in Huntsville several years ago.  I know first hand why they didn't last...

There was one in Pensacola for a short while. I never ate at that one. They had a death location, though. No restaurant has ever survived that location and there have been several.

I have eaten at the one in Greenville, Al. It was great.

Another great seafood place in Mobile was Roussos on the causeway. I used to eat there quite a lot, always the excellent red snapper. It has since moved several times, and I'm not sure how it is now.

Good morning.  ASH HUMPDAY.  We need a camel emoticon!

I didn't go to the Ole Miss baseball game yesterday.  Wish I had gone.  OM beat USM in a tight battle 4-3.  Good back and forth struggle.

Bama beat UT Martin in baseball 10-5.

Tua seems to be doing fine with the NFL physicians.  Hope he's able to perform adequately.

Looks like our camel just returned from Starkville.

Good Hump Day morning. Glad OM and Bama won at BB.

I just read where John Petty suffered a likely season-ending injury to his shooting arm. If so, that's pretty much it for the basketball team.
