Good morning, all.

Chaac is toying with you, 2.  Just reminding you that he knows where you live.

Windy like crazy here yesterday all day.  No storms, just cool and windy.  Today should be nice.

This pair of Downy Woodpeckers is nesting in our woods.  But like so many folks stuck at home with their spouse these days, they began fighting over the suet feeder.  And her hair (left) stood up like a woman ready for the beauty salon to reopen!

 Laughing Laughing

Yeah, Chaac has a funny sense of humor. No rain to day, but 20-30 MPH winds, with higher gusts, are expected later today. Golf should be interesting.

Good morning folks.  Much cooler today than yesterday.  It was windy all day yesterday and last night.  No rain for today.  Going to do church services at the MIL's then after lunch Runt and I are going logging for the HUGE white oak tree that fell on a friend's house Easter Sunday.

We are still not gathering at our church building but we are having church right here because we are the church not the building. Pray you all have a grand day and worship as always. RTR!

Good Monday morning!

Well, I just turned on TWC and they showed footage of the damage caused by an EF-2 tornado that hit Greenville, SC the other night. The track they showed had it dissipating just before it got here.  Shocked

Looks like we were very lucky.

Good morning.   Kiss

Glad to hear you were lucky, 2.  You've had enough tornado hits for a lifetime!

Spent the day birdwatching yesterday.  Incredible day in our yard: Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet Tanager, Mississippi Kite, lots of other good birds.

GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER in a black gum tree in our woods.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER; same tree.

Beautiful birds. How are the hummingbirds coming along, or have they arrived yet?

This time of year they visit, feed a few times, then move on.  We've seen them almost daily for a couple of weeks, but none have stayed yet.

Wonderfully clear photos, Chech, and what a variety. You're definitely the Birdman of CRS.

Good morning folks.  Today looks to be absolutely beautiful.  Spend the afternoon with Runt and a friend both helping me do some logging.  The huge white oak tree that fell onto an apartment add-on of an older couple that I mow for was just laying there in their back yard.  They said that I could have it so we went and got half of it.  I hauled two logs >10' long over to my buddies house that has a Woodmizer sawmill.  I'm hoping to haul the other two logs there today.  The tree yielded over 45 linear feet of usable lumber.  The base measured just about 33-35 inches across.  Our estimate is that the tree was probably about 120 years old.

What are you going to do with it, NALT?

What constitutes a "linear foot of lumber?"  Obviously 45' of 2x4s wouldn't be much lumber, so I assume I don't understand the unit of measure.

After it is sawed into lumber I'll let it air dry for a year or so before doing much of anything.  Hopefully someday when I'm as old as Chech and don't have to work any longer I'll be able to find time to build some nice furniture or something.

Come on Doc. You're smart.  You know that "linear" means long.  Since I can't tell yet how many board feet of lumber is in these 4 logs I used the word linear to describe roughly how long the tree trunk itself was.

I thought it was an official unit of measure or something.  Wasn't trying to be difficult.
