Merry Thursday! We are finally getting warmer weather, but the rain comes with it and all the way through the weekend. Ugh!

 Undecided

We are waiting for the sirens.  None yet.  The county and city have cancelled classes for the day.  It's a nasty one out there.

Wow, TORCON-9 again?  Thanks for that, 2.

Our morning threat has passed.  It'll be an all-day event, but at least this batch of thunderstorms moved NE of us.
Look out, Alabama!

Did you guys see the video of the kangaroo hoping down a road in rural Alabama a couple weeks ago?  Some guy was transporting it from Louisiana to North Carolina (I think that was the route), and it got loose in Alabama.   That would be quite a surreal sight to encounter.

If you are on Facebook you saw it. It also made national news.

I'll never forget the story that Kuiyam told me one time when we were playing golf:

He was playing golf in Australia and said there were knagaroos all over the golf course. He said there were 2 kangaroos off to the right of the fairway and they were leaning on each other's back sleeping. Kuiyam hit his drive and hit one of the kangaroos, waking him up abruptly. The kangaroo thought the other kangaroo hit him, turned around and started beating the crap out of him.

And so it begins . . .

SPC just issued PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch
#50 for central & eastern MS, western & northern AL, southern middle TN,
and northwest GA until 8:00 pm tonight.  Watch calls for

"Numerous tornadoes and several intense tornadoes expected
Widespread damaging winds and scattered significant gusts to 80
    mph likely
Widespread large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5
    inches in diameter likely"

SPC Probability Table:

Probability of 2 or more tornadoes:                  > 95%
Probability of 1 or more strong (EF2-EF5) tornadoes: > 95%
Probability of 10 or more severe wind events:          90%
Probability of 1 or more wind events > 65 knots:       80%
Probability of 10 or more severe hail events:          80%
Probability of 1 or more hailstones > 2 inches:        60%

Those first two entries ought to get your attention!

Radar shows clearing now over northern/central MS but cell firing down
further south in MS.  Storm now in west-central AL are beginning to
rotate.  Severe thunderstorm currently over BHM.

I caught up wuth Kuiyam on Linkedin about a year ago and he said they were all good. The last time I talked with him was about 3 years ago. He said Jesse had started a Gym to help aspiring Australian athletes who wanted to give a shot at the US, and help train them. I hope that's turned out well for him. At that time, Jesse had a new son. Probably has a slew of them by now.

LOTS of tornado news yesterday, and it was all bad.  At least 5 were killed in Calhoun County, AL (NE of B'ham).  Hope everybody is okay.  Ricky was in an area where several passed.  I talked with RE (near Tuscaloosa), and he's okay.
