Okay.  Did you like the fish?  They swarmed me just after a big school of Spadefish did.  Then a school of Blue Runners showed up.  I didn't realize it was a new moon until that afternoon (fish spawn on the new moon).  I'd been to that pacle many times, and had never seen so many schools of pelagic fish.

I liked the fish and the eel wasn't so bad because I am viewing it from land ...
you are a brave man Chech , no way would I swim up to that thing and say "cheese"

they have one at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in a tank there ... it also gives me the creeps
so it's not just your eel ... great pic BTW ... you could do that for money with that quality

Just received a punch in the gut. A very good friend of mine was diagnosed in 2005 with terminal brain cancer. He beat it. Up until this year he went every 6 weeks for MRI's until it was completely gone. His wife and us were seeing a mental deterioration in him so his wife set up another MRI. They just got the results back and he has lost 50% of his brain due to atrophy and radiation. His diagnosis is that it will continue until he has the mind of a child. Very, very sad. He had beaten all odds and now this. Really tough on him and his wife. If you feel inclined to do so, say a prayer for them.

 

Just lost a Bama buddy this winter--brain cancer. I sadly watched him deteriorate and finally die--through his posts on Facebook and his emails. Ups and downs, good days and bad, hope then no hope, and finally death That is rough, 2.

Well over 100 pages later... I'm back.  My last post was on page 299 I think.  It has taken me several hours, but I am caught up on this thread now.  Now I just need another week to try and get caught up on the rest of the forum.

This bird had just splashed in the birdbath, then fluffed and sat on this limb to dry.

Scarlet Tanager.
We had one of these Saturday, but none as beautiful as this one.  It was eating mulberries near my driveway tody.

Summer Tanager
While trying to get a photo of a Western Tanager, this molting Summer Tanager landed in the mulberry tree and started scarfing.  I never did get a pic of the Western.

We had one of these Saturday, but none as beautiful as this one.  It was eating mulberries near my driveway tody.

What to you use to take him out with? I like a 20 gauge with #8 shot or a .22 rifle.

The 20 gauge tears them up too bad.  Head shot; 22.

Thanks for the prayers for my buddy. Prognosis is he will be in a nursing home in less than a year if the deterioration continues at current rate. WV, I read your post. Brain cancer is a horrible thing to see anyone go through. Any cancer for that matter. Anyway, I need cheering up so you guys be funny tonight.

This is how a professional pic of one looks.  These are first-year male birds, changing from yellow to red.
