Hello guys.  Sorry I was away all day.

Had a great time fishing (and catching; sorry, 2Stater) today.  I took a 14-year-old kid and let him fish while I paddled the canoe around the lake.  We both had fished from the lake shore first, but the canoe was more fun.  It's a big, private lake near Charlottesville (out in the woods).

We fished with beetle spins; caught lots of bass, some crappie, and 2 bluegills.  Fun time.

We spent the rest of the day moving big rocks with the tractor and watching UF and UK win.

Tomorrow we leave at 6AM, so I won't be on to welcome the day.  Wish me safe travels.  See you guys from home.  Going through Knoxville and Jackson, TN on the way home (Smitty), not B'ham.

Good night.

First.

Fish question.

I have a pond, maybe 50 by 100 or less, it's kind of hourglass shaped so it's hard to say.  It's rather stagnant, but has a intermittent stream that dumps into it when it rains.  I have been told it is spring fed, but I do NOT believe that, I think it's just a low spot.

It has not been fished in a long time, but I know there were fish in it at one time.  The only thing I have seen in there since I cleared around it this week is one frog.

What can I stock this pond with?

What other things can you do with ponds to improve them (ie nutrients, chemicals, or whatever).

Morning all. Sorry Smitty, I'm not really a pond expert (or fishing expert either, apparently).

My wife's dad worked for the State of Ala. in Union Springs years ago and I had the privilege of fishing the state pond there, which was fully stocked. Even under the worst circumstances, I would catch plenty of fish there. Memories of that ran through my head yesterday as I fished the empty gulf.

The State Arig. Dept will be real helpful for the asking.  Call your local extension.  They use to stock it for free, there is a lot of paper work tied with it though.
