sounds like a productive day   Grin

did those fish look anything like these ?

shouldn't you be cleaning/cooking them about now ?    Wink

Nice.
Cleaning??  I don't do cleaning.  People get paid for that.
Yes, we just ate them.  I'm relaxing, watching UNC win.

Well, the Pensacola weather is awesome and the Pompano tournament has started at Pensacola Beach. I will be there in the morning about 7 AM in disguise so the fish won't recognize me. I figure I stand an outside chance of catching one that way. At any rate, it will make up for the Pompano date I had a couple of weeks ago that got rained out. Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh Yyyyeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we had a tourney over here last Saturday , a lot of real good fish caught and weighed in .
the sheepies are full tilt right now with some 10 pounders in the mix  Smiley
only saw a couple of pomps but they weren't a category ... just for table fair .
lots of muddy doo doo water around  over here so the theme has been "go west young man go west"
plenty of redfish being caught and nice specks too ... in the right places anyway  Wink

hope ya' kill em'

btw ... I'll be waiting on a report  Grin

Even if I'm shut out, I'll give a report. You mentioned the reds and the specs, many times we will wade out into Escambia Bay and usually do pretty well catching those as well as flounder, which happens to be among my favorite to eat.

The boys brought fresh trout in today. Stock trout, not natives, but good enough. Also dug a grocery sack of "ramps". For those of you not familiar with ramps, it is a pungent bulb that grows wild in our climate. We have festivals, ramp suppers, and cooking/recipe contests. You can probably smell them cooking, when the wind is right, clear down in Bama.

I've never heard of "ramps" WV. What are they related to and what do they taste like?

If I had a pick, it would be Ling, or Lemon fish, or Cobia. Big,  meaty, tender, juicy, flavorful steaks.

I guess related to the onion. Much more pungent. Saute them with bacon, but great with trout, on a burger, or just by the bowl.

I've been to most every state in our great country but never to West Virginia. I'll have to mozey on over there sometime and try some. Sounds tasty.

Our boys have been beating the streams and creeks to death, fishing for about a week. I finally asked this morning where all the fish were. Turns out they have been giving them to their girlfriend's Mommas. You always wish a little better for the next generation.
