I wonder what gave him the idea to char the barrel?  Hmmm... this is good, but if we put a little burnt wood in there it would be better.
As a Maker's Mark Ambassador let me interject:

We use only charred white oak barrels to hold our whisky as it ages. Now, we may lose a bit of whisky due to evaporation and absorption during this process, but, rest assured, it’s worth it. Due to the charring of the oak, the natural sugars of the wood are released into the bourbon, enhancing the already wonderfully mellow taste of Maker’s Mark.

Huh?  I'm no expert, so I'll just accept it as Elijah's gospel.

Seems I read where the charred bourbon barrels are sometimes sent to Scotland to be re-used in the darker, more hardy double malts.

You seem to have more than your share of maladies. Unwholesome lifestyle? Usually the kids that were not allowed to "eat the knife" in Mumbly Peg were the sickest. Did you have to keep your clothes clean until after your piano lesson? Mommie's little shadow?

What would a weather threatening Tuesday morning be without a little mean spirited WV to top it off. For your info, I can't even spell peanno. Does the term "kiddy crap" mean anything to you? It's the term used for the stuff that kids catch at daycare and bring it home to share with the rest of the family. My grandson brings his share of it to us regularly. You can go back to your docu-drama on the NatGeo now.
