Remember that one time, way back on page 882, when we had the talking horse?  Good times...

Laughing Jamos never did tell us if he kept his gall bladder in a jar.

Boy did this ever jog my memory. No, there is no gall bladder in a jar, but I did cure the horse. Matter of fact, I think the horse kind of likes me now and I didn't say he was a smart horse either.  Undecided

We dub thee "horse whisperer".

I think the reason he likes me is that he hears me threaten to kill the Tennessee Walker when I'm around him and the horse I cured and the Walker don't get along so well sometimes. So I've got a friend.

Good morning all!  My countdown of my five favorite moments as an overseas Bama fan continues.

Today: #3 - Bama wins the 2010 BCS Championship

This was probably the most bittersweet moment of my life.  I arrived in China on August 22, 2009.  4.5 months later Bama was 14-0, SEC and BCS Champions and MArk Ingram won the Heisman.  I  watched every game alone on a 16" computer screen with a choppy, pixelated internet stream.  Of course I was thrilled with the results but it was also a little sad to have missed out on enjoying the season with friends and family in Tuscaloosa.  If it hadn't been for the old Tidesports forum I wouldn't have been able to "talk" about the season with anyone since I didn't have access to Facebook those first few months and was pretty much cut off from everyone back home apart from the occasional e-mail.  I look back now with fond memories of those first few months as difficult as they were at times.

Good morning Chech and CB and to the rest of CRS as they awaken. Coffee

I hope every one has a great hump day.

I haven't seen Leroy on here much since he got home from his trip, hopefully everything is going well for him.

Bring it on, tomorrow night we can watch some college football and I am more than ready. We aren't going to Atlanta this year for the Bama game and I'm kind of glad we decided not to go. I think there is the Bama game, Nascar race, and Braves baseball happening there this weekend and that place will be jammed.

I'm a little concerned about Leroy, too. I've pm'd him, but haven't gotten a response yet. Hope he's ok.

Phil, these are great stories and those memories you will have forever. As much as we have enjoyed those events in the comfort of our home with big screen, hi def. TV or in a stadium seat, you most certainly have a better appreciation of it all.

Goood Mornin CRS  Coffee

I'm sorry for being AWOL the last few days...I've been a little under the weather.  For the last week or so, I've been on oxygen almost full time and even the smallest amount of physical activity without it left me in pain and gasping for air. Yesterday, I had 3 liters of fluid (yes, 3 liters!!!) drained from my chest cavity and I'm breathing so much better today. I'm a little bruised up and sore from the procedure and I'm getting sharp pains sometimes when I move in certain ways but I expect those pains to go away in a couple of days and in the mean time I'm quickly learning to avoid movements that hurt...LOL.

I have an appointment with my pulmonologist next Monday to discuss options for reducing or eliminating the fluid buildup. Hopefully, after that I won't have to keep going through this cycle of shortness of breath, pain, and draining fluid every 2 or 3 weeks.

Thank you all of you for your prayers and positive thoughts!!!

Wow, sorry you've been feeling poorly.  Glad to hear from you, though.

I'll up the prayer dosage.

You shouldn't have to deal with constant fluid buildup; pulmonmologist should have a solution.  Bless you, and hoping you have a better today and tomorrow.

Phil, you probably explained before, but what carried you to China?

Kind of a long story... I was planning to go to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in January '09, but as the date drew near there was a lot of uncertainty about financing, and more importantly not knowing what I should study.  Due to some past experiences and some spiritual immaturity at that time i wanted to be in ministry but didn't want to preach, be a pastor, or even work in Bible Belt church culture.  So when my pastor told me he'd met a guy looking to take a team to China for a year it seemed like a great solution.  I'd go for one year, tell some people about Jesus and then, hopefully, come home with some clarity about what direction to go in ministry.

The first semester was pretty rough, but then I settled in, got plugged into the international church, met the future Mrs. Bamaphil, and actually had the opportunity to start seminary through the international church in Beijing.  Living now in my wife's hometown of Jakarta, Indonesia trying to finish my M.Div via correspondence/self-study and helping out one of the international churches here.

Reuben Foster news:

CJ Mosley said Foster has already made his mark with his teammates. Twice he has knocked himself out making tackles, most notably a hit on freshman tailback Altee Tenpenny in Bama’s last scrimmage. The hit has taken on mythical proportions.

Sounds like a very fun guy to watch. I wonder how many times the Referee is going to tell him not to tackle so hard? RTR!
