Hello from Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Sorry for the lack of communication.  LF and I were traveling.


Our room is on the 3rd floor; our balcony is right behind that live-oak limb, on this end of the building.
This pacle is NICE.  Today we went bicycling around the island.  It was 78 degrees.

This club was founded in 1886 when members of an incorporated hunting and recreational club purchased the island for $125,000 from John Eugune du Bignon. The original design of the Jekyll Island Clubhouse, with its easily identifiable turret, was completed in January 1888. The club thrived through the early 20th century with an exclusive limited membership consisting of many of the world's wealthiest families at the time, most notably the Morgans, Rockefellers, and Vanderbilts.

Now it's hit an all-time low with a couple from Mississippi occupying the nicest of rooms!

I saw a documentary on Jekyll Island a couple of months ago and they talked about that resort. You are right, that used to be a place for the very wealthy, and if I remember correctly, the mosquitos were so horrible, that it became nearly uninhabitable. As a result, the well-to-do found other places to vacation.

Maybe.  But we spent the entire day outside; no mosquitoes. 
The biting gnats are here, especially in the marshes.  Maybe they are bad at times.

I reckon I'll have to carry the Daily Thread on my back this morning. BP, OT, J and CB will have to take over tomorrow since I'll be traveling.

Good morning, all. Today's the last warm day I'll enjoy until Sunday. I leave CB with one task, that was to ensure warm weather while we're up that way, and the weatherman said he fell woefully short. Will be flying in to a freezing DC tomorrow.

Mornin' 2 and HL. 

I see that US highway 431 through Alabama is listed as one of the world's 22 most dangerous highways.  I don't get it.  People in east Alabama drive fast?

I've been all over the State of Alabama, but I don't think I've ever been down that hwy.

431 is a safe highway. It is the drivers that are bad. I have traveled this one a lots. I cover from Huntsville all the way to Florida. RTR!
