did many moons ago , we used to wait for bad weather to head to the jetties at Orange Beach
had a bud that got bit by a shark down there before getting bit by a shark was cool .
now not so much , with another knee surgery coming up soon I feel fortunate just to walk around some .

I had a 10' surfboard back in the 1960s.  We'd mostly drive around Gulf Shores with it atop the car (babe magnet).

I spent most of the summer of '69 in California.  Found out I couldn't really surf much.

It would be hell surf fishing.

I had a long board at one time too , then I got a little twin fin
and yeah , it was a "hey look at me" thing for the tourist girls , they loved that crap 

spent several years out on the west coast and found their waters to be a lot different
and their sharks a lot bigger 

when Camile hit we took the long board to Dauphin Island ... on a frickin Honda 350 no less  :
because the car was broke and we just had to go , the friend that rode on the back of the bike ended up
burning the crap out of his leg on the exhaust pipe  trying to keep the board from hitting the road

Good story.

I remember a crazy trip on a Honda 50 one cold winter day.  We were going hunting in Grand Bay, so we left Mobile at daylight for the trip.  It was about a 30-minute trip along I-65 to I-10 and then exit in GB. 

Picture this: 2 guys on a Honda 50, with the guy on back (me) holding 2 shotguns.  It was 35 degrees.  I think it was the coldest I've ever been.  I don't know why State Troopers or Mobile Cops didn't stop us.

funny you mention Grand Bay , I own property there
went there today to see a friend that has a excelling pacle to bird hunt
we made a deal that if I put him on the 4-6 lb. speckled trout and redfish
he will let me cap a few birds when the time comes ...

Yep, I leave in about half an hour.  Sundays are slow at the shows, so we get more between-dealer trades (bargains).  The only knife that I saw and missed was sold yesterday before the dealer told me the price.  His brother-in-law (at the same table) bought it.

Sunday is also the day that people show up with bundles of knives to sell.  Hopefully I'll get some good buys.  A few months ago a guy brought me 8 Puma knives, made during the 1970s and still in the boxes.  Sweet.  Those things sell for $150-250 if mint, and sell like hotcakes.*
