Is everything on a cash basis with you, i.e. the wool offer/Jimmy Sexton debacle? Applause E-Cred

Just like the Gun Shows: cash only.

Only exception is silver.  I sold a Randall knife last month for 20 silver dollars.

Seems I recall a story about another fella doing stuff for pieces (30) of silver. Things did not work out well for him.

Yeah well, that story was before the latest recession.  Paper money is worth less now.

Plus, people were more gullible back then.  Tongue

i made an old man cry at home depot.

So I am in lumber, looking for 3 good pieces of 10x12's for a flower bed.  I have a push cart full of merchandise, probably closing in on 300 dollars.

Well, the 10x12's sucked.  They were wet and either damaged or had knots on the edges.  So I was going through the stack looking for some that were decent condition.  Note the product was 'yellawood'.  So here comes old home depot man who questions me about going through all the wood.  I explained I wanted some that had not been damaged.  He proceeded to inform me that my expectations for the wood I was seeking were too high.  And continued to talk to me like it was the first time I had bought wood.  Keep in mind I am wearing overalls, a Kubota ball cap, and work boots.

So I informed him that this was NOT my first time purchasing wood and that I was no longer interested in his wood.  He mumbled something and I told him to go away, I added some unkind words about his likely rate of compensation for working at home depot and that he was probably the fork lift driver who damaged the pallet and left it in the rain, this caused him to enter a bizarre state of remorse and walked away (this is what I am calling crying).  I then took my cart to the service desk and explained why I was going to lowes and left it there.

At lowes they had Georgia Pacific wood which was dry, minimum knots, straight, and I only saw one damaged board.  They also had healthier plants.

I'm actually a really nice guy in person 99% of the time.

Customer service has never been great at either HD or Lowe's. But I would give the edge to Lowe's.

I was also accidentally racist today.  I forget the word "boy" has negative racial undertones.  I really didnt mean it that way.  At the gas station some black guys were washing windows and mirrors trying to sell some product, he approached my truck and I said "boy, dont mess with my truck".  He was offended and said something about rednecks...  I felt slightly guilty, but perhaps I saved his life.  There are some people out here who will kill you for touching their truck.

For the record, I believe all men (and women) are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, etc.

In other news, the race is in town.

Funny too because that's what they try and sell in the commercials.  But the fact is those goobers working there know very little usually.

I let people have it too. I hate service people that act like they are the only ones in the world that work. When they say, "I'm just doing my job, Sir"  I return with, "But not very well. Take a little pride in yourself". Sorry if this offends.

Let me ask you this, have you noticed this being worse in the last few years?  I am trying to blame the economy.

You got that right. I think they get paid by their IQ. That's why none of them make very much. I've walked out of HD pi**ed more times than not. The only time I go there is if Lowe's doesn't have what I'm looking for.

Unfortunately for me, HD is less than 2 miles, lowes is about 15.

I would also like to point out that there was a gorgeous girl working in paint at lowes.
