Is there any reason (excuse) for putting trimmed branches in a drainage ditch on purpose?  Is that supposed to make them go away or something?

I followed my ditch onto my old nice farmer neighbors property and its full of pruned branches.  They look old so I dont think he did it, probably the guy that lived there before who was not a good person (he threw roofing tacks on my property before I bought it to keep kids on 4 wheelers away, among other things), but he is dead.

btw yall, my pond is definitely spring fed.  Its a bizarre hydrogeology, but I am making a stream by digging down the preferred water pathway and I keep running into water coming out of the ground.  I think when I get done it may always flow.

And little pieces that break off clog it up on down stream.  I am going to ask dude to let me clean it out.

They rot faster in a damp spot.  But that assumes forethought.  Don't try to reason with rednecks.
