Buddy of mine had an old pool (also filled with frogs; nowhere near a pond).  For the greatly reduced price of a new pool, he was able to get the pool folks to put in a new liner and new pump.  If your concrete around the pool is in good condition, and the plumbing beneath it good, your new pool could be cheap.  His gets lots of use after a hot day of work in the yard.  Great was to cool off, plus it's an attractive part of the yard.

# to 2.

I've had some pretty cheap quotes to fix it, all less than 3500, but that's just a new liner.  I hate liner pools.  I also hate the square wal-mart pools,  I envision a peanut shaped concrete pool like I had growing up, with a hot tub on the end...

Hate?  Okay, just saying.  Either way, if the new pool is going where you have the old one, no need to fill it.

Not really.  But, boy, it's windy and cooler today (50 now with gusts to 25k).

Good deal. The only noticeable difference down here is that the humidity is non existent. That will make for a great golf tourney I'll be playing in today. The downside is it will be windy.

I've got some paperwork today, then if I finish I'll spend the afternoon outside.

Progress update

Piling up the chert on the property line.  Is this obnoxious?

Still unsure whether a retaining wall will be necessary.

After 1 day.  You cant tell much difference from the first update but I assure you a ton more dirt got moved.

I took down the fence and will blend it in with the yard tomorrow.  Will add 50x15' or so, and a parking spot.

And here's the chert pile.  People used to pay a lot of money for this stuff.  I heard you cant sell it any more because people were tearing down mountains.  I dont know if I believe that or not.
