I haven't watched enough Clemson to really know their team.   From what I have seen, I don't think they'll be able to stop the run like MSU, but they should be able to slow it down and make Bama complete some passes.

Against MSU, Bama ran some plays that were out of their habits, especially early in the game.  For example, with certain personnel and alignment early in the game, the offense ordinarily would run right with Henry after a fake toss sweep, but instead Bama ran the toss sweep, or threw a bubble screen.  It looked like the coaching staff did some reverse film study, and were running plays that looked like something Bama did all season but instead turned out to be something different.  The passes to OJ Howard also were out of the ordinary, and Greg McElroy pointed out (Finebaum Film Room) that the MSU safety was cheating to the right side of the field (where the receivers were) and completely ignored OJ Howard on the left.  (We all know Bama hardly threw it to OJ all season.)

I'm wondering what we will see against Clemson.  Will it be more reverse fild study, aimed at Clemson's perceived weaknesses, early in the game, or will Bama go back to doing what Bama does?  I'm thinking we see more of Henry than we did against MSU, and also I expect the coaching staff to keep OJ Howard in the game plan.  He's a matchup nightmare for most teams...  and although Clemson supposedly has taller, better CBs than MSU, I'm not sure if they have the personnel to cover three receivers and OJ, plus stop the run.

One thing we can be assured of is that the Bama D will show up with "great vengeance and furious anger."  That should go a long way to winning the game.  I honestly feel that the only team that can beat Bama is Bama.  I expect Bama to play Anaconda style, slowly squeezing the life out of Clemson, like it did v. LSU and MSU.

[/quote]

Good stuff CP!!

As always I'm like CNS in that I'm not worried about what Clemson does I'm more worried about what Bama does. Bama is the better team no doubt and there are three ingredients in their win recipe that is required to win the game, Execute, Eliminate, and Finish. Execute their plays, eliminate turnovers and play 60 minutes.

Good early morning! Well, looks like the basketball team is at Ole Miss tonight and then a big one at home with Kentucky Saturday. J, I sure wish I could take you up on that ticket for the Kentucky game. That should be a very good game. Cheer loud & proud!

My daughter in Lafayette is coming in for a long weekend, mainly for the purpose of watching the Natty game here. She said she is tired of those unappreciative LSU fans not showing interest in the game, so she wanted to come home to watch it with those who do.

4 days to go until #16. Clemson fans still trying to talk themselves into thinking there is a chance to beat us.

Good morning from Music City.

Yes, stuck here in a motel for a few days, but enjoyed touring The Hermitage yesterday.  Old Hickory was quite the leader.  Worthy tour if you're ever in the area.

Glad your family is visiting, 2.  Hopefully y'all are well.  Still sending best wishes for a healthy recovery by Jamos and Ricky.  That winter crud is nasty.

4 days to go indeed.  Then we dash the dreams of Clemson, and celebrate #16 or whatever!

Morning.   Coffee

That's good to know about the Hermitage.  I drive by there regularly but have never stopped.  We'll have to add it to the list of things to do in Nashville...   educate the kids and whatnot.  I'm supposed to be in the Music City on Monday for business; I guess we'll see about that, weather and timing wise, don't want to get stuck up there as I have a date with the TV.

I wonder how long it will take Rece Davis and Company at ESPN to change the Bama helmet to #16.  It was immediately after the game for #15.

Not that I think this game is a foregone conclusion.  The odds are in Bama's favor.  Only way Bama doesn't win are (1) Clemson QB plays the game of his life and hits open receivers regularly in narrow windows, or (2) Bama self-destructs  (which I don't see happening.)

I once went to a game in Clemson when Coach Bryant's team was ranked #1.  We put a banner on the car saying "Watch Clemson Turn Crimson!"  Got some thumbs up when driving through Columbia but the looks turned sour near Clemson, so we took it down when we parked at the stadium. Bama won, of course.

I still like "Watch Clemson Turn Crimson!"

The museum is several hundred yards from the Jackson home, so it's better to go when it's not raining or cold.  Lots to see outside too (slave quarters, smokehouse, cemetery, etc).  Best thing is the number of relics there: original furniture, swords, floor coverings, beds, books, jewelry, carriages...  Not just a shell of a house and a bunch of replicas, as so many places.

Gargle salt water for that throat, especially if you can't take the hot toddy.  Salt is a wonder medicine.
