5:17 update:

Didn't take long.  The sleet turned to heavy snow, and now the deck is completely covered with snow.  Already Hwy 78 / I-22 (Memphis to B'ham) is closed near Memphis.  Wind at 20 mph.

 

Wow, that was fast.  It isn't supposed to get here for another 12 hours, but they're keeping an eye on it.

The front has a 20-30 mph push it seems, with gusts to 40 mph!
Still dark outside, but I can see we have at least 1" of snow already.

The weather looks pretty nasty up your way Chech, it looks like a good day to watch it from the recliner. We are expecting some of the white stuff as well but unless something big happens we shouldn't see much accumulation but we all know about Mr. Weatherman, he changes his mind a lot.

I'm hoping the weather doesn't treat us too bad today and tonight with the parade and basketball game in tomorrow's plans. I was hoping the championship celebration would bring in a big crowd for the LSU game but now it looks like the slippery roadways might keep some away.

Have a good day today everyone and respect the weather for what it is, very risky and dangerous.

Unfortunately LF and I are traveling today.  We're watching the road reports and awaiting an opening.

Hopefully it'll all clear for tomorrow's parade.  LOTS of important recruits in Tuscaloosa tomorrow too, so we'll need luck with weather.

33 degrees here in Middle Tennessee and I got a doctors appointment at the VA York Medical center at 8:30. They expect 4" of snow in the greater Nashville area. Maybe I can make it back home before it gets nasty

We have a solid 2", and it looks like it's about done.  Just flurries now.

Hope it melts SOON!

Well, I'm praying for you guys. Chech, be careful on your travels. At least you've got snow and not freezing rain. No one can drive on that stuff.

We had unbelievable thunderstorms move through here about 1 AM. Very vivid thunder and lightning with very strong winds. I'm guessing they were 40-50 MPH. Branches and limbs have littered everything. No damage at the 2castle, though.

Let's hope for good weather for the parade, basketball game, and recruits. Chaac is a Bama fan, right?

We had unbelievable thunderstorms move through here about 1 AM. Very vivid thunder and lightning with very strong winds. I'm guessing they were 40-50 MPH. Branches and limbs have littered everything. No damage at the 2castle, though.

BTW, we had those thunderstorms at dark yesterday.  Crazy lightning and heavy rain.  Scary stuff.

Hey everybody just rain cold though here in Fruithurst. I just pray you guys will be really safe out there traveling. I hope no outages situations bother anybody. Kids play and enjoy the time out of school, lol. I don't know but if we can help anybody we are here. RTR!

Thought I better check in with you guys. Snowmageddon began around 2 pm (1pm Bama time) here and has been steadily falling since. Flakes are not yet huge, and wind has been calm SO FAR. I figure we have somewhere in the area of 1.5 inches right now, but the weather persons continue to say that it is going to get worse later tonight and into tomorrow morning. We are hunkering down for a long weekend at la casa de cbbama.
