Okay 2 gripes (it's Monday):

1. I'm SICK of sitting at the TV to see news on the "news channels" (their terms), and all I get is friggin wedding nonsense.  Keep that social stuff on the Oprah Show, etc.
2. ANOTHER wall of storms is bearing down on us this morning.  Again?

1.  We had a 2 minute discussion about the royal wedding and then it was banned from discussion and TV in my house.  I rarely watch television so that has worked.

2. NOOOOOOO, weather.com says it's tomorrow, but they are always wrong.  I need a drought for a while over here.  Figured out the problem in the front yard at the ROW ditch.  If you look at the water level in the frog pond and extrapolate down there, it intersects the surface.

Good geology detective work.

I really need to go to the beach, soon.

Um, what brought that up?  Swimsuit ad on Fox?

Y'all were talking about oil commodities, which reminded me of California, which reminded me of the ocean.
I drilled the last well (Hondo Platform--Exxon) off the coast of Santa Barbara in the mid 80s. Talk about people hating your guts.

Hondo is the only platform I have ever been on.  I could see it from my balcony in California.  I might have a picture....

Nope, found the photo, but it's of me and you cant see it.

Was there at least a bikini in your fantasy?

Honestly, no.  I was picturing a fogging sunrise, cool breeze, a couple of people strolling on the beach, me on the balcony having a cup of coffee, the smell, the sound of the waves.

You're going to set off my island mindset again.  I'll try to focus on the present (19 days).

We flew back and forth from a heliport at UCSB. Crossed nude beach . When in town, I found it better to tell people you worked in a shoe store, rather than mention drilling. Kooks.

Well, there was a liner in the pool, after all.  You just had to fall in to appreciate the source.  Tongue

I was harassed while replacing a well vault in the street in Santa Barbara.  They hate anything that resembles work.

I was probably one of those "kooks".  Back in '69 I spent time out there (Laguna Beach area; not Santa Barbara).  I was more into tidal pools and bikinis than protests, though.

The Hondo Platform has 24 slots (wells) but they got a court injunction to stop the drilling of the 24th for several years. When the injunction was lifted, it was big news there and I was in their crosshairs. Kooks.

Your raccoons would probably appreciate some fish in there.  First thing: Gambusia (mosquito fish).  You might have to net some from a creek or pond elsewhere, but you'll need them to keep down the mosquitoes.

Most of the critters will find their way into the pond by themselves.  You can add whatever fish you want, but they'll overpopulate and eat everything in the pond if you add sunfish (bluegills, etc), bass, or crappie.

I have never seen a raccoon or signs of one around here.  Can you get Gambusia at the store?  Dont the the frogs get most of the mosquitos?  Should I throw a log or something in there for the frogs?
