Well hope everybody is having a great day. Getting ready for game day and smiling with the family and friends. Still dry here but that is not the problem.
Mrs Dottie and I got a letter from the VA yesterday and they took out 226.95 out of my check for medicine this month. I only draw 1513.00 a month so it hit us so hard we are not smiling this morning nor the rest of the probably. When have to live on that pittly amount each month and then something like this happens man it throws a scare into you and there is nothing you can do about it EXCEPT I am calling them today and tell them I can't take medicine anymore other than my Morphine and Gabapettin. All the diabetes and other medicine will just have to stop. I don't think I have ever been hit this hard by anything.
Well anyway let's get ready to beat Ole Miss we won't be smiling but at least we lose to them again and have more spoil on the month. RTR!

Preacher, are you on Medicare by any chance, if you don't mind me asking?

I wouldn't recommend going off the diabetes medicine.

No sir I am not on Medicare because my wife is and it is like a $157.00 a month just for Medicare. Then she has had Cancer so the doctor and hospital made her buy a Blue Cross Cancer policy which is good but is extremely high in cost plus her Medicine packages she has to have for her Meds. So my check is the only one we have to live off on. So, CP I know what your saying but the Co-Pay they are charging us is to much. I don't have any choice but to cut back on all but my Pain Meds that helps with the Stimulator they put in my back.
You know the sad part is I was thinking about it now, I can't be the only Vet they are doing this way, you know what I mean. Lord knows I have prayed all night about this and right now I can't find Peace about it. RTR!

Ricky, I can't believe you have to pay for medicine.  I am pretty sure my dad never had to pay for any of his medicine, the VA just sent it to him in the mail.  Now, we did have issues with them running out of medicine and not being able to get it every now and then, but I am pretty sure the cost was covered by the VA.

He died in 2001 though, so I guess a lot has changed since then.  Have you always had to pay for your medicine?

SC, things have changed drastically for Vets over the past few months. Benefits have been slashed, and many like Preacher are in crisis because of it.

Preacher, have Dottie call Social Security and ask to apply for SS Extra Help. If that is the only income you have, she most likely qualifies for it. That will give her immediate help on her meds. It will then help you to when you get on Medicare. They may even pay for your Part B premium.

It certainly won't hurt to call.

And CP is right, it just isn't a good idea to quit your diabetes meds.

Well Sc my one thought too, is how many other veterans are they doing this way? The thing about it is, I wrote the President on e-mail, Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby about it knowing they won't do anything. I did NOT write Mike Rogers because his office in Anniston, has the biggest liars in it. They actually sit on my claim one time and let the VA close my claim and I had to refile, but I went and got me a lawyer this time they are out Gadsden, and are suppose to be good and he told it would take a good long while and I have already been doing this claim for 8 1/2 years when they closed the first one now it has been about 6 months since the second one is on going.
Please thank your dad for me if it is proper for his Service. I still say God Bless America but I don't understand why the VA does the vets like they do? Please pray for us we need it. RTR!

Ugh! We had about 2 hours of light rain associated with the same system. If that's all you get in Oxford tomorrow, it may not be that big of a deal.

Rice scores to cut it to 14-10.

    Hello golfers.

Light rain is already here.  We need the rain (badly), but too bad for those who have to sit in it.

Baylor yawned their way past Rice: 38-10.  Poorly played game.
