"Good stormy morning to you all."
Too early to start a diatribe on one group having to hold umbrellas for other groups.

"Morning"

"Morning"
I knew you'd get set off by this one, but I like the look and the pose.

Heavy rain hit at 12:01 (the forecast said midnight; pretty close, eh?).  Lots of lightning and wind, and it ended at 2AM.  There is another wall about to hit us now.  This is nuts.
Is the Mississippi River at flood stage yet?

"Morning, Smitty."

WV, I heard on the Memphis TV station yesterday that the Mississippi River is at flood stage, but I didn't pay attention to the story.  That's far west of here, and until it crosses that big levee I don't care.  Grin

Good indicator of how wet a spring it has been.

I've got a friend who teaches college in Minnesota.  Their snow melted with the sudden warming, and they've got flooding now.  The national news has its annual reports of flooding all along the upper Mississippi.  Here?  Not since the 1940s.

The red river of the north?  It floods every year, flows north ya know.

I had a site in Moorhead, it was 1/2 mile from the river and flooded yearly upon snow melt.

Nope, didn't know that.  I've never been there except to pass through, but read a book about early pioneer days of that region.

See my edit above.  I had a site right there in Moorhead in the flood plain and had to learn all about it.

My friend is in Marshall, which is nearby (but not within Red River flood zone).  I'm going up there for a visit this summer (July).  I'll give you a report.  It's prairie, so if the river rises 1' it floods for miles.

It hammered the rain here yesterday, but only 20 minutes or so. Rain blowing sideways. The woman was at the store. She said some lady was afraid to pump gas in thunderstorm, so she had to pump her gas to get her off the pump. She said, "I don't know why. Noone would do it for me". Horse manure. If she lifted her hoodon the interstate, trucks would be jack knifed for miles. If she was in the store and said, "This loaf of bread looks awful heavy", 3 guys would be tripping on themselves to carry it to her car. I'd be stuck on the interstate waiting for 3 hrs. for someone to stop.

Moorhead.  I see it on the map (NW MN).  Marshall is well south of it in SW MN.  I was in Marshall for a Christmas visit 4 years ago, then again 2 summer's ago.  But I've never stayed along the river in those cities.
