Up early this morning. Heading to the game. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have 11:00 kickoffs did not consider the fans. This is terrible.

Good morning.  Coffee

It's bad juju for 2Stater to miss the first half of a game!  Shame, shame.  Hopefully we dispatch Mississippi State without your help!

FISHING was great yesterday.  I didn't catch the BIG ONE, but we landed 34 bass!!  That lake must be crowded with them.  Fished with a Texas rig (purple worm) the entire time.  My buddy used a darker worm (motor-oil, I think); did equally well.  We fished 2:30 - 5:30, and caught fish in shallows, deep holes, around docks, and around stumps.  Didn't seem to matter; they were snapping.  He tried a rattletrap for a while, but caught only one on that.  I stayed with the worms.  At one stretch I caught 6 on the same worm before it finally ripped apart!  Great fun.

My buddy is a NAVY VETERAN, so I was acknowledging his service and listening to his submarine stories when a BALD EAGLE took flight across the lake.  WOW, perfect for VETERAN'S DAY!

We kept the larger ones for a neighbor of his to eat.  He said they were trying to remove some fish from the lake due to 'crowding'.    We did our part!

Glad your trip went so well with the fish and to listen to your friends stories was well worth the trip in itself. I wonder how many of the "big boys" looked at your worm yesterday but just wouldn't cooperate. Maybe you two will get another chance to go again, hope so.

Well, work got in the way of golf yesterday, so we will be trying it again today. Will have to watch the replay of the second half of the game. Life on the road, ugh!

Traveling is a bummer, especially when Bama is playing. Have a safe trip home. RTR!!

ALWAYS wonder the same thing.  I only took a small tackle box; just spinner baits and worms.  He had a huge box, and he tried lots of lures.  Only the rattletrap worked at all.  I caught a few in deep water, and prolly should have taken a pig-jig setup for that area, but didn't.

BTW, the bluegills drove us nuts -- grabbing the worm tails.  You know how that can be!!

We caught fish consistently, so I never changed from the worms.  As my great granny used to say: "Never leave fish to find fish".  She spent her life fishing; RIP.

The pig and jig is a big favorite when the water cools down in the Fall season because it is fished so slow and the fish have slowed down as well. Bill Dance always preached using the black and blue combo. I hope you get a chance to go back there again. Your Great Granny was a wise lady and most of us fishermen can learn a lot from that advice.  Wink

I will actually be missing the 2nd half of the game. We should be up 49-0 by then. Just ask SC.

Nice haul with the bass. That's good fishing for cool weather.

J, earlier this year, you said you had some family coming in for this game, Did they make it in?

I had intentions of cranking up the grill today, but, for some reason Captain D's is on my mind.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with all the fish talk, right?
