There is hardly a privacy fence left standing around here.  They have an unfortunate characteristic of wind resistance.
Back in the 80's I was invited to grill out at a coonass friend's house. He had just built a new fence and was very proud. His fence looked like it was doing the wave. The above fence reminded me of Mr. Montet's fence. He could grill though.

Yep, I lived in coonass habitat for 10 years.  I don't know how Mississippi holds the top spot for girth (obesity) with those folks in the competition.  They can cook; they can eat; they can party.

BTW, the house pictured is a quarter mile from mine.

These birds were eating mulberries.  I was trying to get a pic of the Western Tanager.

I'd say either one of them would be tough eating.  You should:

1. harvest the hens when they are pullets;
2. not eat migratory birds with federal protection under the Migratory Bird Act;
3. stay away from younger women.

Just grabbed a pic. I think these are layers--not fryers. The neighbor's chickens come to visit each day.

Speaking of birds, as I was mowing my pasture yesterday I was given an aerial show of some fantastic dives by two hawks. They were after the grasshoppers that would jump up as I mowed.

Sounds like Mississippi Kites (not really hawks).  They dive like falcons and eat insects (unlike most "hawks").

Amazing eyesight. I enjoy watching them catching air "up-drafts" at various altitudes.

Thanks for their name. They are here each Spring and it amazes me as to how close they come to me and the tractor and they are very accurate catching their prey. They are a beautiful bird also as the picutres show.
