It's controlled by an overflow.  Once I am done connecting I will have access to the overflow and can do what I want with the pond level.  Problem is, that area is under the tree that has the huge limbs just hanging on the other limbs.  I dont like working under there.

Yeah, I really dont think that would do anything.  Those limbs have stayed up there through the storms so I dont think they will fall easily.  I think the risk is very very low, still disconcerting though.

Shooting a limb, maybe a couple times, creates a weak point. Heavy winds (your pacle) or heavy snows (my pacle) will bring down the limbs that are holding up your deadfall.

Sure. It may take a little longer. Moisture gets in holes/scars, creates rot.
