Back when, brakeman was extremely dangerous. Hopping log cars (flat beds) from car-to-car to set and release brakes. BTW, these trains need a fire for 15-20 hours to heat water to steam. So they continuously "fire" the engines (hostler) overnight.

What, you don't do Ecuador either?  It's not Central America.
The woman would find me. Sad
Speaking of devil (bless her heart), I have to find some electrical problem that is running down her car battery. No inside lights showing or cargo light. But if car not started or battery unhooked, battery runs dead. Battery and alt. are fine. Any ideas? Avalanche

Yikes.  That's going to be difficult.  Go to autozone and have them plug in and read the code for you.

Check for those inside, trunk, and glove box lights at night (in the dark).  Bet it's one of those.  Even in the trunk you can see it if in a completely dark pacle.

Also, check the cigarette lighter, etc.  *** warning: check lighter in daytime***

Done. No lights showing. Autozone and dealer 1 1/2 hrs away.

Mornin' guys. WV, I was only joking around about your buddy. That was actually a cool story. We had an electrical problem with the PT Cruiser we gave our daughter. The door lock on the passenger side had some kind of short in it. Took forever to figure it out. Even Firestone couldn't find the problem.

Fuel pump relay, rear window defroster, radio shorting out?  If it runs the battery down fast, it's probably not a light, but something that heats up.

Her cell phone's not plugged in, is it?  Just asking.

Lights (interior, dome, glovebox, trunk) dont drain good batteries.  I leave my dome light on for days and it cranks.  It's bigger.  When that happened to my truck it was the ignition switch.  The only way you can narrow it down is hook up a volt meter and start pulling fuses.

Oh I know, check your wiring harnesses.  There may be some rubbing in there.  I've had that too.

Cool. Voltmeter on fuses? Worth a look. Locks (possible) because they play those things like a piano.

The door lock problem was a slow drain. Since at the time the Cruiser was being driven very little, it would go dead in about a week when not driven.

Again, you can see sparks from these shorts best in total darkness.

I found a bad spark-plug wire like that once.

Found this:
Quote
Current drain on the battery can be checked with an ammeter. Make sure the ignition is off, then disconnect one of the battery cables. Connect one ammeter lead to the battery and the other to the cable. The normal current drain on most vehicles should be about 25 milliamps or less. If the key-off drain exceeds 100 milliamps, there's an electrical problem that requires further diagnosis.

Finding the hidden current drain can be time consuming. The easiest way to isolate the problem is to pull one fuse at a time from the fuse panel until the ammeter reading drops. This will tell you which circuit is draining the battery. Then you have to check the wiring and each of the components in that circuit to pinpoint the problem.

Voltmeter on battery.  Pull fuses one by one until the draw is gone.  Then you know where to look.

Check those harnesses for fraying, especially if you have other weird issues like the lights get brighter when you push the gas or something.

My harness problem caused me to lose my ground and I had a ton of issues.  I was so happy I almost cried when I figured out how simple it was.  I am sure that could cause a slow drain too.
